Lucille (Catapano) Rudelich

Lucille Rudelich, age 89, passed away Monday, Jan 31, 2011, peacefully in Hospice care at Becker Shoop Nursing Home in Racine. Lucille was born in Racine, October 18, 1921, daughter of the late Mike and Carmella Catapano.

Lucille was a loving wife to her loving husband, Joseph Rudelich. They were joined in marriage May, 15 1948. They enjoyed almost 63 years together. They loved one another today just as much as they ever did. She was a housewife and a stay-at-home mother to her three sons. She enjoyed cooking homemade dishes for all of her family.

Survivors include her loving husband, Joseph; her sons, Michael Rudelich of Brooklyn, NY, and Joseph Rudelich of Racine; her grandchildren, Jason Rudelich of Grafton, Jennifer Rudelich of Racine, Melissa Rudelich of Sturtevant, Ashleigh Rudelich of Racine; her great-grandchild, Ella Mark Harmann (daughter of Melissa); two brothers: Michael Catapano and Ralph Catapano both of Racine; sister, Adeline (Catapano) Benscricutto of Racine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Rudelich.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

Frederick E. Yocco

Frederick E. Yocco, age, 73, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Frederick was born in Racine on November 18, 1937, son of the late Ernest and Jennie (nee: Giacinti) Yocco and had been a lifelong resident.

He graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1955” and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Business. Fred was employed with Western Publishing for thirty-eight years, last working as director of sales administration until his retirement in 1998.

On January 29, 1994, he was united in marriage to Debbie McNeish at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Fred loved bowling, golfing and cards especially Bridge and Cribbage. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Pheasants Forever Club. He will be best remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; six children, Karen (Mark “Ole”) Oleson and their daughter Chelsey, Julie Graceffa and her children, Matthew and Amy, Kenneth Yocco, Peter (Linda Jean) Judicki, Sarah (Daniel) Farrey and their children, Megan and Carter, Katie and (Caleb) Ward and their daughter Adelie; sister, Adeline Wensel; brother, Enzo (Delia) Lucarelli; brother-in-law, Lawrence Hansen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Fred was also preceded in death by his sister, Alice Hansen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Friday February 4, 2011, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

Delores R. (Schneider) Kirkorian

Delores R. Kirkorian, age 77, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011, at Hospitality Manor, Kenosha, WI. Delores was born in Racine, March 7, 1933, daughter of the late Henry and Katherine (Nee: Hempel) Schneider.

Delores was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. An excellent seamstress, Delores will also be forever remembered for her exquisite quilts, and knitting and crocheting projects. More than anything she treasured and devoted her life to her family. She will be deeply missed.

On August 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward Kirkorian and to this union six children were born: Susan (John) Kirchenberg, Tom (Rose) Kirkorian, Theresa (Mike) Alley, Edward (Jennifer) Kirkorian Jr., Michael (Margaret) Kirkorian; son-in-law, Paul Helbling; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Mary (Tim) Glenn, Tom (Sandy) Schneider, Margaret (Richard) Reese; her very special friends, Mary Burke and Rose Mason; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Helbling; great-granddaughter, Lyric Grigsby; brother, Don (Carol) Schneider; and sister, Audrey Lemire.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 South Green Bay Road, on Friday, February 4, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. David Echelbarger officiating. Betty (Sundby) Kern

Betty (nee: Sundby) Kern, 90, passed away on January 28, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan –All Saints Hospital. She was born in Halvrimmen, Denmark, on November 29, 1920, to the late Andrew and Anna (nee: Christensen) Sundby.

Betty and her family immigrated to the United States in 1924 and grew up in West Racine. She was a proud member of the Good Writers Club at the former Howell Grade School and lettered in field hockey at Park High School. On Labor Day, 1940, Betty and her sister Dagmar met their future husbands, Alfred and Orville, (also known as the “nice boys”) at Douglas Park. Al enlisted in the US Air Force in World War II and Betty anxiously awaited his safe return. On November 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Alfred E Kern. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1993.

Betty was employed for many years at Employers Insurance of Wausau. She also belonged to the infamous Summit Avenue Neighborhood Club. Betty and Al took several memorable trips to Hawaii and, following Al’s death, she continued her world travels with her son, Richard. In addition to traveling, Betty loved baking! She always found time to make our favorite Danish Christmas cookies, poppy seed cake with custard filling and cheesecake. As her health began to fail, Betty still found enjoyment in her home with frequent catalog shopping (clothes, of course), watching Lawrence Welk reruns and indulging in her nightly bowls of ice cream and morning ritual of donuts.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Sandra Kern of Waunakee, WI; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia J. and Edward Hartman of Racine, Elizabeth A. and Steven Pesek of Yakima, WA; six grandchildren, Tara (Kent) Dull, Nikki (John) Hanzel; Kimberly (Scott) Johnson, Brian Hartman, Sean Pesek and Jacob Pesek, her eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her sister, Dagmar; and her brother, Roy.

We have always been in awe of Betty’s generous and kind spirit . Although her journey on earth has ended, she will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2219 Washington Ave., on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Tracy Polzin officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Michael Benjamin Semler

Kansasville -- Michael B. Semler, “Ben,” age 83, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Burlington , WI, on November 27, 1927, son of the late Mike and Emma (Nee: Madden) Semler.

Ben graduated from Burlington High School. On July 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mildred (Horvorka) Duchan, who preceded him in death November 30, 2007. Ben farmed for about 20 years and then drove truck for Quality Carriers and retired from J.W. Peters in 1990.

Ben was a member of the Audubon Society. He enjoyed caring for people and was a caregiver these past ten years. Ben will be remembered as a hardworking, good and honest man. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lyn Semler of Silver Lake; three grandsons and one granddaughter; a sister, Barbara Young of Salem, WI; three nephews; a niece, and many dear friends.

Private services were held with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Audubon Society or Wheaton Franciscan Hospice have been suggested.

June (Steinhauer) Harris

June Harris, age 96, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Personally Yours, Waterford, WI. June was born in Chicago, IL, on June 1, 1914, daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (Nee: Merritt) Steinhauer.

June was united in marriage to George V. Harris who preceded her in death, August 13, 1997, and by a grandson, David Buss. June was a longtime member of the Racine Country Club. She and her husband George spent their retirement in Tarpon Springs, FL, for over twenty years until 2005 when June returned to Racine. She volunteered for many years with St. Luke’s Auxiliary in Racine and at Tarpon Springs Hospital, Florida. An accomplished seamstress and avid golfer, June also enjoyed oriental art and design. More than anything, June treasured and devoted her life to her family. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her five children, Claudia Buss of West Lafayette, IN, Brenda Kennedy of New Canaan, CT, Susan Overman of Goodyear, AZ, Paul (Karen) Harris of Fairplay, CO, Phil Harris of Grafton, WI; her twelve grandchildren, Debbie Buss, Jeffery Buss, Michael (K.T.) Whaley, Tom (Teri) Whaley, Steven Whaley, Mary (William) Johnston, Austin (Sandy) Overman, Jennifer (Eric) Han, Carey (Robert) Fry, Cristin (Craig) Jacobson, Mitchel Harris, Bennett Harris; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Harrison of IN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Bud” Steinhauer.

Richard E. Beres

Richard E. “Dickie” Beres, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Richard was born in Racine, April 12, 1943, son of the late Joseph H. and Marie R. (Nee: Kettinger) Beres.

Dick graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1961.” On April 29, 1976, in Racine he was united in marriage to Jean Gerber Holmes. He owned and operated Beres Towing and Repairs for forty-two years. Dick was a member and board member of Wisconsin Towing Association. He had a passion for cars and enjoyed driving in the 4th of July parade. Most of all, he truly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; his children, James (Holly) Holmes, Cheryl Valente (Keven Winters), Daniel Holmes, Lynn M. James A. Thurmann Sr.

With his family by his side, James A. Thurmann Sr., age 76, passed away Wednesday January 26, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital. James was born June 17, 1934, son of the late Henry and Olga (nee: Roedema) Thurmann.

He was a proud graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1952” and later served in the Air National Guard. Jim was employed with Twin Disc Inc. for over twenty years until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed his friends and time spent in Largo, FL, during his retirement years. Jim was a self -taught professional organist. In the past he would play at different venues including the Eagles Club, Giovanni’s Restaurant and the Elks Club in Florida. He was a member and a past senior counselor of the U.C.T. United Commercial Traveler’s Club. Jim had a passion for cars, especially his Jaguars and Excaliburs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his dear friend and former spouse, LaVerne Thurmann; five children, James (Terri) Thurmann Jr., Vicky (Dan) Marohl, Jeffrey “Jeffro” (Cindy) Thurmann, Valerie (Edward) Otto, and Veronica Thurmann (Mark Jacox), all of Racine; grandchildren, Andrew Thurmann (fiancée, Heather Kreilkamp), Emily Thurmann, Eric Marohl, Peter (Jessica) Marohl, Anthony and Brandon Thurmann, Kristina Thurmann; great-grandchildren, Alaynna, Gregory, Isabella, and Isaiah; other relatives and many friends in Racine and Florida. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother, Henry.

Orville 'Swede' L. Johnson

Orville “Swede” L. Johnson, age 82, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born in Fergus Falls, MN, on March 21, 1928, son of the late Nils A. and Alma O. (Nee: Peterson) Johnson.

During the Korean War, Swede served in the United States Army. On August 13, 1955, he was united in marriage to Donna L. Flint, who preceded him in death on September of 1995. Swede was President and CEO of the Cooperative Credit Union for twenty-nine years and served on the Board of Directors for ten years. He also served as President of the Racine Credit Bureau and past chairman on the board at Wisconsin Credit Union Insurance Corporation. Swede was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. His pastimes included golfing, reading and walking. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children, Cheryl (Walter) Hayek of Racine, Russell Dean (Claudia) Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; his six grandchildren, Steven and Brittney Hayek, Olivia Johnson, Michelle, Timothy, and Christopher Johnson; daughter-in-law, Nikki Johnson of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Johnson; son, Dale Johnson; brothers and sisters, Marie Cline, Ralph Johnson, Harold Johnson and Florence Faunce.

Roger Owen Mills

Mt. Pleasant -- Roger O. Mills, 92, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.

Roger was born to Merris and Gertrude Mills on February 15, 1918, in Freeport, IL. At a very young age, the family moved to Racine. Roger was educated in Racine and in 1937 went to work at Modine Mfg. Co. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in Europe during WWII. He was honorably discharged in the fall of 1945 and returned to work at Modine Mfg. Co where, he retired after 45 years of service. On June 28, 1947, he married Madeline “Mandy” Clausen at Holy Communion Lutheran Church.

Roger’s greatest joy was reading his Bible. He read it cover to cover many times. He also enjoyed working on his stamp collection, camping, fishing and gardening. Roger and Madeline were happily married for 63 years. They worshiped at Racine Bible Church for almost 30 years and then became members in January 2001. Roger worked often at the church on maintenance.

Roger is survived by his wife, Madeline; nephews, Bruce Mills, William and David Olson; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Mills and Leona Severance; two brothers, David and William Mills.

Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Miesel officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be at Graceland Cemetery.

Ronald H. Knutson

Ronald H. Knutson, age 64, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at his residence. Ronald was born in Racine, December 27, 1946, son of the late Harvey and Elaine (Nee: Shouts) Knutson.

Ron was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1965.” During the Vietnam War he proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by Grove Gear for the past fourteen years. Ron enjoyed photography, reading and his fishing excursions up north. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his son, Eric Knutson of Racine; his grandson, Anthony; brother, Steven (Renee) Knutson of Sturtevant; nephew, Jonathan Knutson of Sturtevant; niece, Chrystal (Chad) Hensiak of Burlington; great-niece and nephews, Dakota, Dylan, Draven and Drake; other relatives and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. James Andrew Naleid

James Andrew Naleid, age 87, died on January 23, 2011, at East Castle Place in Milwaukee, WI, surrounded by family.

He was born in Racine, WI, on March 11, 1923, to Arthur and Loretta (Cape) Naleid. He married Gloria E. Chesnut at Holy Trinity Church in Racine on December 29, 1945, after completing his service in the US Army as a navigator during World War II.

On March 13, 1974, Mr. Naleid married Ada (Toni) Smith Christensen at St. Rose Church, now St. Richard Parish. She survives him.

After working for 20 years at Western Publishing Company, he left the company in 1970 to co-found Heritage Realty Inc. with James L. Dickert (now Coldwell Banker Residential). In 1983 he sold his interest to Mr. Dickert and retired from the real estate business.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his six children, Chris McAuliffe, William (Maribeth) Naleid, Linda (Douglas) Klopp, James (Cynthia) Naleid, Jane (Ronald) Zwiefka, Nancy (Mark) Petersen; three step-children, Peter (Rose) Christensen, Ann (Michael) Flegel and Lisa (Frederick) Ruder; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William (Yolanda) Naleid and Robert (Carol) Naleid. A third brother, Colonel Jerome F. Naleid, died in 2000. His widow, Patricia, died in 2006.

Visitation with the family from 9:30 – 11 a.m. will precede the Liturgy and Celebration of his life at 11 a.m., which will take place at St. Richard’s Parish on Friday morning, Jan. 28, with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. The Church is located at 1509 Grand Ave., Racine, WI 53403. Memorials to St. Richard’s Parish were his wishes. Howard L. Dahnert

Howard Lawrence Dahnert, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Ridgewood Care Center, at the age of 92. Howard was born in Horicon, WI, on April 22, 1918, son of the late Ted and Anna (Nee: Giehne) Dahnert.

Howard was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist church and on June 22, 1940, at the church he was united in marriage to Winifred “Winnie” Ione Roest. Howard was employed as a beverage deliverer at Racine Beverage, owned and operated Howie’s Tropical Fish out of his basement as a hobby, was a pipe coverer, estimator, and part owner with Boll Industrial Roofing and Insulation of Milwaukee, retiring in 1983.

Boy Scouts of America was a significant factor in his life. He achieved Eagle Scout rank as part of Boy Scouts, and Quartermaster rank as part of Sea Scouts. He attended the first two National Boy Scout Jamborees and many others after that. He was particularly proud of his Sharpshooter and Master Marksman’s accomplishments. Howard continued in Scouting in many capacities through the Racine Chrome Dome Drum & Bugle Corps, Badgerland, Illinois Drum Corps Assoc., and Drum Corps International where he was recently inducted into the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame.

Howard enjoyed traveling with Winnie most of all, especially through Drum Corps trips, and with the Holiday Rambler Club. He was the past exalted ruler of Racine Elks Club, had a passion for “rock hounding” with the Racine Geological Society, and was also part of the Racine and Milwaukee County Civil Defense. When he was not volunteering his time for various organizations which he loved dearly, he loved bargain hunting. His happiest moments were celebrating wedding anniversaries and traveling to Hawaii with Winnie.

Survivors include his loving wife of seventy years, Winnie; his children, Janice Nelmark, Robert Dahnert, James (Cynthia) Dahnert; his grandchildren, Robert Nelmark, Tammy (Ruben) Mendoza, Daniel (Terri) Nelmark, Debra (Steve) Radwill, Wendy (Rob) Siegel, Matthew Dahnert (fiancé, Cammi), Jonathon Dahnert, Kimberly (Chris) James, Nicholas Dahnert, Lisa (Chris) Przekurat; his great-grandchildren, Christopher (Megan) Mendoza, Michael Nelmark, Brendon Mendoza, Abigail Radwill, Emmit Radwill, Ashley James, Isabella Radwill, Ethan Fabian, Owen Radwill, Emily Nelmark, Christopher Przekurat, Chasity James, Utah Radwill, Carson Siegel, Jasmine Przekurat, Missy Doepke, Nick Doepke, Ryan Dahnert, Caleb Dahnert; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Calvin Roest of Richmond, VA, Sue (Art) Webb of Rockford, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Calvin Carothers Jr.

Calvin Carothers Jr., age 58, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Calvin was born in Water Valley, MS, on September 22, 1952, son of the late Calvin and Sarah Ruth (Nee: Willingham ) Carothers Sr. and had been a resident of Racine since age fifteen.

Calvin attended Park High School. He was currently employed by Racine Community Action Agency and previously by J.I. Case Company.

Survivors include the love of his life for twenty-five years, Shawn Allen; his children, Calvin Dershawn Carothers, Lenny (Heather) Allen, Talayia Allen; his five grandchildren, Talayia Hall, Kayleigh Allen, Kaelen Allen, Elonte Byers, Marcell Byers; his stepmother, Mattie Jane Carothers; brothers, Larry Carothers, Billy D. Brown, Harvey Brown, Perry Carothers, Kendrick Briggs; sisters, Lorrie Ann Stokes, Elaine Brown, Jackie Carothers, Joyce Carothers; best friend, Billy “Country” Wallace; special cousin, Larry Hoskins; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Joseph Haban

Joseph Haban, age 93, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Franciscan Woods, Brookfield, WI. He was born in Racine, May 30, 1917, son of the late Andrew and Philamena (Nee:Sevcik) Haban.

Joe graduated from William Horlick HIgh School “ Class of 1937” and from Tri-State College in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Service during WWII and was trained as a steam engineer. Joe had a knack for inventing things which eventually led him to start his own company, Haban Manufacturing. From 1952 until 1995 Joe designed and manufactured agricultural machines and implements. He is credited with inventing the first snowthower that attached to a garden tractor. In 1980 Joe was recognized with an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from Tri-State College.

Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Kiwanis Golden K Club, and the Lost and Found Club. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, reminiscing with friends and conversations involving politics of the day. Joe was very generous and community-minded. In the mid '90s, as a way to give back to the community that supported him, he donated the family farm to Racine Youth Sports so that they could convert it into athletic fields. Joe will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his daughter, Lisa Armaganian; grandchildren, Margaret, Lauren, twins Michael and Elizabeth, Claire, Kathleen, Liam, and Ryan Flatley; sisters, Mary Gerber of Grand Island, FL, Helen Jorstad of New Hope, MN; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Haban of Fort Atkinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma; and his brothers, Andrew and Frank.

Rick E. Albright

STURTEVANT -- Rick E. Albright, passed away unexpectedly Thursday January 20, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital. Rick was born November 11, 1949, in Alliance, NE, son of the late Phillip and Adelia (nee: Settles) Albright.

Following graduation from high school, Rick served in the U.S. Navy. He later attained his degree in electrical engineering. Through the years he was employed with Stericycle, Rockwell Automation and was last working at Fair Oaks Farm. On March 20, 2004, in Sturtevant, he was united in marriage to Monica Valdez. Rick’s passions included the Green Bay Packers, his yard work, his dogs and most importantly his grandchildren and family. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Monica; daughters, Alicia (Andres) Ramirez, Elizabeth (Aaron) Boatner; grandchildren, Marisah and Nikolas, all of Sturtevant; his Goddaughter, Angelica Serrato; sisters, Karen (Larry) Wilcox of South Dakota, Marilyn Albright of Alliance, NE; mother-in-law, Marilyn Sorensen of Racine; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donald Bruce Anderson

Donald B. Anderson, 84, passed away on January 20, 2011, at Linden Grove Nursing Home in New Berlin.

Donald was born in Racine to the late Andrew and Mary (nee: Weiss) Anderson on July 2, 1926. On August 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Louise Anderson, who preceded him in death in 2003.

Donald served his country in the Navy during World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines and Okinawa. After the War, he was employed as a mechanic. Donald was best known for being a handyman who always had the right tool to complete any task. He was a proud member of the Navy Seabees and Boy Scouts. Always warm, friendly and social, Donald loved his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren. At times he could also be known for his story telling, especially those about his childhood and his days in the service.

He is survived by his children, Larry (Carol) Anderson, Barb (Bob) Anderson and David Anderson; five grandchildren, Carrie (Dean), Steve, Kai (Luann), Rachael (Erica), and Kristy (Ken); eight great-grandchildren; and his niece, Carol (Emil) Panyk. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Louise; and two brothers, Bill Anderson and Bob Anderson.

Memorial services for Donald will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Surrounded by her loving family, Jody L. Salamone, age 51, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at her residence. Jody was born in Racine, WI, on July 7, 1959, daughter of Lloyd and Nancy (Nee: Peterson) Newman.

Jody had a great love for animals and enjoyed endless summer days at the beach. She will be fondly remembered as an avid Packer fan clutching her diet Dr. Pepper.

Mildred Agnes (Recob) Griffin

Mildred Agnes Griffin, age 96, of Racine, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the Harmony Living Center. Mildred “Millie” was born October 28, 1914, in Pine Nob, WI, a daughter of the late William and Cora (Nee: Anderson) Recob and was raised in Muscoda, WI.

She was a graduate of Muscoda High School. On May 31, 1935, she married Oswald M. Griffin of Highland, WI, and subsequently moved to Racine where she lived for seventy-five years. Oswald preceded her in death, February 11, 1985.

Millie devoted her life to guiding four wide-eyed, impressionable children from birth through adolescence into adulthood. As the years went by, she was not only a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but a wonderful friend and confidant. An excellent baker and cook she also enjoyed playing cards, reading and taking walks along Lake Michigan. She loved the outdoors and loved family outings and get-togethers, trips to the lake and everything family! She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and the St. Ann and Joachim Society. Mildred and her beautiful smile will be dearly missed.

Janice M. Acevedo, 52, passed away in Houston, TX, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.

Janice was born in Kenosha to James and Dorothy Scott on December 29, 1958.

Janice is survived by husband, Roberto Acevedo; one son, Clinton; her parents, James and Dorothy Scott; one brother, Dwight (Jean) Scott; one sister, Elaine Long; two sisters-in-law, Penny Scott and Debra Nielsen; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son, Stephen; one daughter, Felicia; two brothers, Jimmy “JD” and Jeffery Scott; both maternal and paternal grandparents, Alvin (Dora Mae) Childers and Arden (Eva) Scott.

Mrs. Carol J. (nee: Fish) Ruud, 94, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan/All Saints on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. She was born in Sparta, WI, on January 2, 1917, to the late Orin and Nora (nee: Brown) Fish. She has lived in Racine since the late 1930s. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Ruud on March 29, 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1984. She was employed at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Mrs. Ruud enjoyed camping, the outdoors and playing cards. She loved all animals, especially dogs and birds.

She is survived by two children, Daniel Ruud of Altadena, CA, Christine Ruud of Racine; daughter-in-law, Anne Ryan-Ruud of Cambridge, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Brian (Christine) Johnson, Jason (Margie) Johnson, Josh (Colleen) Ruud, Christa (Robert) Buyea, Colin Ruud, Karl (Stephanie) Ruud, Kenneth Ruud, Rebecca Ruud; nine great-grandchildren, Nicole and Jacob Johnson, Kimberly, Kenneth, Bryce and Noah Johnson, Cooper Ruud, Calvin Ruud and Camden Ruud. Muriel J. (Harris) Kraft

Muriel J. Kraft, age 89, passed away Monday morning January 17, 2011, at Woodstock Health Center in Kenosha. Muriel was born in Racine September 5, 1921, daughter of the late Russell and Minnie (nee: Zuidweg) Harris.

Muriel graduated from Wm. Horlick High School. On August 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harvey R. Kraft, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1983. Together with her husband, they owned and operated Harvey’s Bar and Restaurant, a supper club on Sheridan Road in Kenosha, for many years. Muriel volunteered in the gift shop at St. Mary’s Medical Center for many years. Muriel was a kind, generous, patient and sweet woman. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Thomas H. Matter

Surrounded by his loving family, Thomas H. Matter, age 78, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was born in Racine, February 25, 1932, son of the late Elmer F. and Gertrude (Nee: Aller) Matter.

Thomas was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1951.” From 1952-1956 during the Korean War Thomas proudly served in the United States Air Force. On October 16, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Margaret “Muncie” E. Silvasi. Thomas was employed for forty-three years by Modine Manufacturing as a Senior Application Designer until his retirement in 1995. He served on the Board of Directors at Modine Credit Union and was a member of the Modine “20 Year Club.”

Thomas was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and served on the maintenance committee. Prior to becoming a member at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Thomas was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council and various other committees. Thomas was an avid golfer who enjoyed time spent on Thursdays with the Modine Retirees and with his Wednesday and Sunday groups. He was very proud of his golfing achievement with three holes in one. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, designing tables and cabinets for his family and attending car shows with his son. More than anything, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Muncie; his children, Sue (Ed) Agnew, Thomas M. Norman K. Harris

Norman K. Harris, age 81, passed away Sunday January 16, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital. Norman was born in Marion, OH, July 7, 1929, son of the late Herbert and Lola (nee: Creasap) Harris.

Norm was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1948.” Furthering his education, Norm attained his degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was also a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He proudly served as a Radio Engineer in the U.S. Army while stationed in Europe. On November 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth J. Kaeppel at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Milwaukee. Norman was employed with Racine Industries from 1965, retiring in 1999 as Vice-President of Manufacturing. He was a longtime dedicated member and Deacon of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Racine. In his younger years, Norm was active as a chaperone with the Kiltie Kadets and also with the Boy Scouts. Norm will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Jim B. Cook

Jim Boyd Cook, age 50, passed away on January 15, 2011, in Bluewell, West Virginia. Jim was born in West Virginia, November 20, 1960, son of Jimmy and Sally (Nee: Pennington) Cook.

On August 9, 1980, in Caledonia, WI, he was united in marriage to Teresa Killips. Jim was employed by Intermet as a die caster for eighteen years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was also a Packers fan. More than anything he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all.

Dr. C.L.M. (Clem) Samson

Dr. Clarence Lofton Martin Samson, 90, passed away on Friday evening, January 14, 2011, at Becker-Shoop Center in Racine, WI. Dr. Samson was born on March 4, 1920, in Crowley, LA, to Clement Joseph and Anna Martin Samson.

After graduating from Crowley High School in 1937, Dr. Samson received a B.S. degree from Louisiana State University in 1940 and an M.D. degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1943. While at Louisiana State University, Dr. Samson was initiated into the Kappa Alpha Order social fraternity and Phi Chi medical fraternity. Dr. Samson enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II in 1942 while still a medical student, and was commissioned at his graduation in 1943. Dr. Samson served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, stationed on Marcus Island and Orote, Guam.

After being discharged from the Navy, Dr. Samson completed his residency and entered general practice before enrolling in the Ophthalmology Graduate Program at the School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Samson took a residency in Ophthalmology at Tulane University School of Medicine and The Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Samson passed his boards in Ophthalmology in 1956 and joined the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. Dr. Samson entered private practice in 1955 and practiced Ophthalmology until his retirement in 2000.

Dr. Samson was a member of the Louisiana-Mississippi Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He was on the Clinical Faculty of the Ophthalmology Department of Tulane University School of Medicine from 1955 to 1990 and served as Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology from 1975 to 1990. Dr. Samson joined the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology and served as its president in 1968 and 1969. He also served as the President of the Staff and the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Samson was also a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Orleans Parish Medical Society, the Jefferson Parish Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, the Board of Trustees of the Southern Eye Bank, the L'Union Francaise French School, and the Rotary Club of New Orleans. Dr. Samson was married to Joan Louise Bennett on April 16, 1955, in Racine, WI, and they resided in New Orleans.

Dr. Samson is survived by his two daughters, Anne "T'Anne" Samson of New Orleans and Andree Samson of New Orleans; and his three grandchildren, Ashley Testerman of New Orleans, Eric Testerman of Chicago, and Nicholas Walsh of New Orleans. He is also survived by one niece, Betty Davis of Maryland, two nephews, Frank Milliken of Dallas, Texas, and Donald Milliken of Lafayette, Louisiana; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Private funeral services will be held in New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association have been suggested by his family.

Linda (DeLuca) Treiber

Linda Treiber, age 77, passed Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Golden Living Center, Kenosha. She was born in Racine, October 13, 1933, daughter of the late Louis and Linda (Nee: Ricchio) DeLuca.

Linda graduated from Washington Park High School. She was a beautician and had owned the Heavenly French Salon. She had a zest for life and enjoyed her time with the Senior Pageants. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her brothers, Arthur (Linda) DeLuca, Frank (Gretchen) DeLuca all of Crivitz, WI, Kenneth DeLuca of Dallas, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Treiber; her sister, Elsie Nielsen; and brothers, Louis and Richard DeLuca.

Walter W. Schulz

Walter W. Schulz, age 74, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at his residence. Walter was born in Durand, WI, August 25, 1936, son of the late William and Irma (Nee: Gueltzow) Schulz.

Walter retired after over twenty years of employment with Twin Disc. He was a member of VFW Post 1391, and the Harley Davidson Club. One of his pastimes and pride was his love of motorcycles. He owned a classic Harley motorcycle fully dressed. Throughout his life he owned several motorcycles and participated in many trips to Sturgis and other Harley activities. He loved to ride. He always kept busy -- this was his hobby. He worked on cars, maintenance of his home and other projects. He loved the challenge of figuring out things and was very good at it. He was very knowledgeable and skillful. You could always find him in the garage working on a project or two. Following high school he served in the United States Army as a mechanic. He was very proud of the six years he served and was very patriotic. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his children, Loralie A. Schulz, Nicholas A. Schulz; his six grandchildren, Candice, Justin, Chad, Ashley, Nicholas Jr., Sierra; his three great-grandchildren, Mah’kenzie Day, Johnathan Mycheal Burdo, Jayden Schulz; brother, Arthur (Pauline) Schulz; sisters, Bernice Knowles, Olivia Synder and Hilda Alderman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory W. Schulz; and his sisters, Verna Hotchkiss and Belva Schulz.

Elizabeth Marie Miskulin

Elizabeth M. Miskulin, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2011.

Elizabeth was born in Racine on September 10, 1928, to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (nee: Westrich) Poplawski. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Louis Miskulin on September 15, 1951, and they were happily married for 55 years. Elizabeth’s positive outlook on life and her non-judgmental, unconditional love of her family and friends enhanced her marriage and all those lucky enough to know her. As a couple, Louis and Elizabeth made many treasured friendships at school, church, in their old neighborhood on Park Avenue, their new neighborhood on Wisconsin Avenue, through their many travels throughout the world, and everywhere they went.

Elizabeth graduated from Saint Mary’s grade school and St. Catherine’s High School and she maintained friendships with many classmates from both schools throughout her adult years. After high school, she worked at SC Johnson Wax until the time of her marriage. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children while spending leisure time with neighbors, family and friends. Elizabeth was an avid reader, she enjoyed doing cross stitch, baking and canning, volunteering at Harmony Club, Girl Scouts, churches and schools, gardening, singing in church choirs, playing Cribbage, Friendly Neighbor and other card games, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and reading stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, she just loved spending time with her family.

Words and thoughts that come to mind when we think of our Mom and our Grandma are … apple strudel, patience, Easter egg hunts, evenly divided frozen cherries, fairness, the way she loved each grandchild and made them feel special, positive, the best Mom in the world, compassionate, Poky Little Puppy, cribbage, forgiving, candy dish/candy stashes, cut-out Christmas cookies, selfless, home-made pies, Happy Birthday sung over the phone, humor and puns, forgiving, warm home-baked bread, canned tomatoes, singing in the car, Teeny Tiny Sweet tarts, canned jam, juice boxes, coin banks, sewing, singing Peter Cottontail, Green Eggs and Ham, Chicken Bisquits, “music without words,” gag gifts at Christmas, the smell of grandma’s hutch, generous, “sore feet” Santa, the food fairy that ate your mushrooms, everything a Grandma should be!

Elizabeth is survived by one son, John (Leslie) Miskulin of Valparaiso, Indiana; and five daughters, Liz Bruns of Racine, Ruth (Stan) Sylva of Aurora, Colorado, Sue (Gerry) Harsh of Racine, Ellen (Dave) Peters of Racine, and Mary (Tommi) Sjogren of Waukesha.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Kara (Scott) Reske, Emily (Scott) Schoenfelder, Lauren (Colin) MacPhail, Justin (Jen) Sylva, Ryan (Jimmi) Sylva, Kristen (Isaiah) Kerns, Jason Harsh, Amelia Harsh, Alex Defatte, Maddie Miskulin, Niko Sjogren, Niina Sjogren and Rebecca Sjogren.

Elizabeth was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren; David, Kallia and Elliott Reske, Ava, Duncan and Oscar Schoenfelder, Finnigan and Jonas MacPhail, Devon and Gabriel Sylva, Katarina, Wyatt and Blake Sylva, and Caitlin Kerns. Elizabeth will be fondly and lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Albert (Doris) Miskulin and many other relatives and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Miskulin; one granddaughter, Rebecca Sjogren; and one great-grandson, Oscar Schoenfelder.

Lynn M. (Freres) Borke

Lynn M. Borke, age 65, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Lynn was born in Racine, November 17, 1945, daughter of the late Gordon A. and Dorothy M. (Nee: Lochowitz) Freres.

Lynn was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1963.” On August 19, 1967, she was united in marriage to William R. Borke. Lynn was employed as a dispatcher with the Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant Police and Fire Departments for many years. She was actively involved with the A.F.S. (American Foreign Exchange Students) as a devoted mother to thirty-five international students. Lynn also volunteered for a number of years with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Lynn “Rusty” was an amazing experimental cook who could never share a recipe.

Survivors include her loving husband Bill of 43 years; her daughters, Carrie Ann Borke-Dail and Jennifer Lynn Borke. She was the proud grandmother of Ashley Marie Dail and Andrew William Borke; two sisters, Renee Schacht, Karen (Peter) Johnson; sister-in-law, Leeann (Daniel) Naughton; special aunt, Wilma Milovancevic; her beloved dog, Ali; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Paul) Bodeau.

Bernice Nietupski

Bernice Nietupski, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, in Waukesha County, WI, at the age of 86. Bernice was born on November 15, 1924, to Antony Nietupski and Anna (Lomasz) in Racine, WI. She was a lifetime resident of Racine and member of St. Stanislaus Church and school and St. Edward’s Church. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1943.

She is survived by her nieces: Mary Jo Nietupski, husband Richard Tritz, their daughter Bridgette Tritz; and Paula Post (nee Nietupski), husband Dennis Post and their wonderful sons, Jacob (Stephanie Russell Biondi) and Izak; and Roseanne Nietupski. She is also survived by her grandnephew Christopher Nietupski and his mother Susan Hamre-Nietupski, (wife of the late John A. Nietupski). She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Alex and his wife Evelyn (LaBoda); her sister Ann; brother Stanley and his wife Sarah Jane (Fodera); brother John and his wife Elsie (Ambrose); infant brother Victor.

She worked 16 years at Webster Electric. In her first years there she produced gearboxes for Navy anti-aircraft guns. She then worked 24 years at Walker Mfg. Co. In retirement she lived with her loving sister, Ann, with whom she traveled the world. She regularly volunteered for Toys for Tots in Racine. One year, she and Ann refurbished and outfited dozens of dolls for Toys for Tots.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., Racine, with Reverend Allen Bratkowski officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.

William E. Paar Jr.

William E. Parr Jr., age 35, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011. Bill was born in Racine, October 19, 1975. Bill served as an altar boy in his youth at St. Joseph Catholic Church. On August 1, 2010, he was united in marriage to Kimberly C. Weiland.

Bill was employed by Great Northern Corporation. He liked motorcycles, working on cars, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly; his daughter, Kayla Parr; his parents, Linda (Dell) Rundle, William Parr Sr.; his brother, Daniel L. Albert J. Goebel

Albert J. Goebel, age 80, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine, August 13, 1930, son of the late Albert J. and Madeline  "Maggie" (Nee: Draeger) Goebel.

Albert proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Alaska. On March 22, 1955, in Racine he was united in marriage to Donna L. Mundstock, who preceded him in death on November 17, 1999. Albert was employed as a machinist for thirty years with J.I. Case Company until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed bowling and taking walks, and in his younger years he liked scuba diving. Albert was an avid Brooklyn Dodger fan. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra (Richard) Biondi, Julie (Steven) Verheyen, all of Racine; his four grandchildren, Jessica Mielke, Sarah Biondi, Steven, Olivia, and Samantha Verheyen; his great-granddaughter, Madelynn; brother-in-law, Kenny (Reena) Mundstock of Racine; close cousin, Edward Goebel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Bedard and Donna Walton.

Richard 'Dick' J. Carpenter

Richard “Dick” J. Carpenter, age 75, passed away early Saturday morning, January 8, 2011, at Wheaton- Franciscan-All Saints Hospital. Richard was born in Racine, October 8, 1935, son of the late Lester and Gerta (nee: Hansen) Carpenter.

He attended Wm. Horlick High School. During his tenure in the military from 1953-1977, Dick proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division and later served in the U.S. Air Force and the Army Reserves. Richard was employed with J.I. Case Co for many years until his retirement in 1991. Dick will be remembered as a man of few words who always got his point across. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his two children, Jenny Carpenter (Steve Sieg) of Eau Claire, Terry Carpenter of Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Cortney and Andrew; brother, Donald Carpenter of Racine; sister, Delores Jorgenson of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Michael Jon Peterson

Sturtevant – Michael Jon Peterson, 70, passed away at Ridgewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, January 8, 2011.

Michael Peterson was born in Eau Claire to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (nee: Lubinski) Peterson on October 2, 1940. He moved to Racine in 1965 and was united in marriage to Patricia Mae Perkins on September 2, 1966. He lived in Sturtevant since 1967.

Mr. Peterson served in the United States Army in Germany from 1960 until 1964. He was employed at Twin Disc for 38 years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson, old western movies and History. He had a good sense of humor with a heart of gold. Most of all, Mr. Peterson was a family man. He was good to his wife, children and grandchildren.

Michael will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia; two children, Peggy (Grant) Sheldon and David (Erica) Peterson; four grandchildren, Shayne Peterson, Grant Sheldon III, Taylor Peterson and Grace Sheldon; one brother, Dennis (Diane) Peterson; one sister, Annette (Kenton) Chartrand; other relatives and friends.

Virginia Pearl Bittorf

Mrs. Virginia P. Bittorf, 81, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 8, 2011.

Virginia Pearl was born in Oshkosh to the late Harry and Edna (nee: Ott) Volz on December 4, 1929. She lived in Racine for most of her life. She was united in marriage to William Bittorf, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bittorf attended Racine Lutheran High School and was in the first graduating class in 1947. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Racine Lutheran High School Thrift Shop. She continued to support the Lutheran church and school throughout her life. Mrs. Bittorf owned the Racine News Agency and later was employed by the Racine Public Schools. She was the first female building engineer for the school system. She retired in 1985. Virginia was a very reliable and caring person. Her family and friends could always count on her for help. There are many stories of how she would help family and friends in need.

Virginia will be sadly missed by her three children, Susan Bittorf, Steven (Jane) Bittorf and William (Sara) Bittorf; four grandchildren, Ryan, Jacquelen, Matthew and Drew; two brothers, Arnold (Doris) Volz and Robert (Darlene) Volz; two sisters, Lorraine Wagner and Francis Volz; and other relatives and friends.

Maria Elena Ekstowicz, age 41, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center. She was born in Racine, November 17, 1969.

Surviving are her children, Christopher and Kacie Snyder; her mother, Carmen Ekstowicz; sisters, Michelle, Amanda and Nina; a brother, Ricky; her grandmother, Maria Koffler; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Moreno.

Raymond E. Lingsweiler

Raymond E. Lingsweiler, age 92, passed away peacefully early Friday morning January 7, 2010, at Lakeshore Manor. Raymond was born in Sturtevant March 7, 1918, son of the late Raymond and Ada (nee: Galloway) Lingsweiler.

He was a graduate of Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1936.” During World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and was involved in “The Battle of the Bulge.” Raymond was married to the former Evelyn Niesen, who preceded him in death May 4, 1995. He was employed with Howard Industries for many years and was last working with Webster Electric for ten years until his retirement in 1983. He later married Dorothy (nee: Jandl) Ellis.  Ray was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and sang in the choir for many years. Ray was an avid sports fan, Packer fan and his favorite pastime was golf. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy; two sons, Curtis (Nanette) Lingsweiler of Milwaukee, Bruce (Kate) Lingsweiler of Racine; grandchildren, Ryan (Brandy), Erin, Kirsten, Ethan, Shaun, Megan; sister, Jean (Vern) Swanson; nieces, Carol (Mark) Tousignant, Jeanne Marquis, Mary Thurau, Barbara Fredrickson, Susan Khoursand, Karen Carlson; step-son, Robert (Jeanne) Ellis; other relatives and friends.

Walter 'Eddie' Grzyb

Walter Grzyb, “Eddie”, age 77, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Walter was born in Racine, July 22, 1933, son of the late Frank and Mary (Nee: Ruthkowski) Grzyb.

Walter served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On October 15, 1955, at St. Rose Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Florence A. Giordana. Walter was employed by Racine Steel Castings for 31 years, retiring in 1985. He was a life member of VFW Post 1391. He was an avid Packers fan, enjoyed sports, puttering around the house and casino bus trips. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the great grandkids. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. Private interment with full military honors will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Tuesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Memorials to the family for the great-grandchildren’s education or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
