Nancy Clare (McKeague) Maddocks

Nancy Clare Maddocks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was born to life on January 2, 1924, the daughter of John and Mary McKeague. She was born into eternal life on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her smiling Irish eyes.

She grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, and in 1948 she married the boy next door, James Robert Maddocks. They moved to Racine, Wisconsin, and had five children: son, Jim (Jean nee: Gergen); daughter, Nancy (Karl Frederick); son, Tom (Kitty nee: Neeb); daughter, Mary (Ken Waldo); and daughter, Peggy Buck; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and grandson, James Buck.

She loved to garden, second only to being surrounded by her family. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and also in the Gift Shop at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zerkel officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at a reception following the committal service. Donations may be made to Hospice Alliance, Inc. or the National Parkinson Foundation.

We would like to thank the wonderful people at Harmony Assisted Living of Kenosha, who took such loving and compassionate care of her for almost two years. We would also like to thank Hospice Alliance for the loving care they gave her in her final weeks. We would also like to thank the many friends who have been praying for her.

Daniel Edward Martell

Daniel E. Martell, 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center.

Daniel was born in Gentilly, MN, to the late Henry and Celina (nee: Amiot) Martell on May 30, 1919. He then moved to Racine in 1965 and was united in marriage to Barbara Ann (nee: Prott) on May 28, 1969.

He was employed at Racine Steel until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family. Most of all, he loved all his children and grandchildren.

Daniel will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; nine children, Charlotte (Jim) McDonald, Steve (Brenda) Martell, Marie (Jim) Clement, Linda (Bob) Schmidt, Jim (Cheryl) Martell, Merle (Jacquie) Martell, Karen Martell, Angie (Dan) Watkins, and Bonnie Lazarevich; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, a sister, Ellen Scully; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Martell, Benedict Martell; a brother-in-law, Robert Scully; and a son-in-law, Marvin Jipson.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, 1509 Grand Ave., on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ron Gramza officiating. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 5 - 7 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Todd Arthur Rattle

Kenosha -- Todd Arthur Rattle, age 59, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011, at Kenosha Memorial Hospital. Todd was born in Racine on February 28, 1952, son of the late Arthur and Jane Rattle.

Todd was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1970.” He loved all kinds of sports but especially was a devoted Brewers and Packers fan.

Survivors include his brother, Jay; his nephews, Jacob, Ben, Robert; niece, Melinda; great-nephews, Ayden, Logan, Owen; Aunt and Uncle, Faye and Chuck; cousins, Kevin, David, Linda, John; other relatives and friends at AA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Uncle Jerry.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Walter Hermanns officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

Mildred Annie Christensen

Burlington – Mildred A. Christensen, 92, passed away at Burlington Memorial Hospital on September 12, 2011, with her loving family at her side.

Mildred was born in the Township of Raymond to the late Otto and Minnie (nee: Loppnow) Paap on November 5, 1918. She had lived in Racine for most of her life. In Raymond on the family farm, she was united in marriage to Nels H. Christensen on July 30, 1938. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1985.

Mrs. Christensen was a member and involved with Grace Lutheran Church. She worked as a homemaker and owned and operated a catering business called M & M Catering. For 14 years she worked as the head cook and baker at J.I. Case High School, retiring in 1980. She very much enjoyed cooking and baking. During the holidays, she would bake cookies with handmade cutters to make ginger cookies and gingerbread houses. She also enjoyed flowers, bird watching, crocheting and collecting music boxes. She once knitted an American Flag. Her favorite thing to do was to dine out at DeRango’s Restaurant. What she was best known for was that she would share her love with family and friends with huge hugs!

Mildred will be dearly missed by her daughter, Arline (Bill) Rozell; one daughter-in-law, Marsha Back; five grandchildren, Corrina (Matthew) Clark, Andrea (John) Horvack, Dawn (Bruce) Conrad, Ron (Hiromi) Rozell and Ryan Rozell; seven great-grandchildren, David, Kevin, Ty, Cody, Gabrielle, Liam and Sophia; one sister-in-law, Elaine Paap; and nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, John; eight brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3700 Washington Ave., on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randel Poppe and Rev. Thomas Chryst officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.

Robert 'Bob' A. Greco

Robert “Bob” A. Greco, age 81, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Bob was born in Racine on September 26, 1929, son of the late Alexander and Antoinette (Nee: Fucilla) Greco.

Bob was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1948” where he excelled in sports. Following high school, Bob was drafted with the farm team for the St. Louis Cardinals. He served in the United States Air Force at Scott Air Force Base. On November 25, 1954, in Burlington he was united in marriage to Ruth M. Zwiebel.

Bob was employed by Wisconsin Electric Company for forty years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. His love for baseball carried throughout his life as he managed DeMark’s 16” Ball Team for many years, played on St. Patrick’s Baseball Team, and was an umpire for many years with the city. He also enjoyed the Friday Bingo bus to Ho Chunk. An avid sports fan, Bob was always a #1 Packer fan. More than anything he cherished time spent with his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Ruth; his three children, Wade (Holly) Greco of Austin, TX, Terry (Diane) Greco of Hatboro, PA, Gina Greco of Racine; his two grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Greco, Ashley Greco; brother, John (Sarah) Greco of Racine; sister, Marie (Lawrence) Johnson of Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Zwiebel, Betty Zwiebel, Catherine Zwiebel, Helen (Vern) Brook; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

Albert Wayne 'Hotdog' Hartog

Albert Wayne Hartog (Hotdog),76, received his “one-way first class ticket to heaven” on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Al was born March 6, 1935, the son of Albert H. and Hazel (Nee: Nelson) Hartog in Rock Island, Ill. The family moved to Racine when Al was a child.

He attended local public schools, graduating from Wm. Horlick High School in 1953. He joined the Air Force in 1954, serving as a communications specialist. On February 4, 1956, he married the former Shirley Youmans. She preceded him in death on January 7, 1977.

Al received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dominican College in 1970, and while pursuing his education he worked various jobs. Al taught art classes at Raymond School, before becoming employed at JI Case. He was an active union member, serving as union steward, safety committee person and held numerous other positions in UAW Local 180. In 1982, he served as Community Services Labor Liaison of Racine Area United Way. In 1990, he returned to Case and retired in 1992. Al remained active with the Local 180 retirees, holding various positions until his death.

He was also committed to social justice issues and was one of the founders of the Health Care Network. In 1999, he was voted Labor Person of the Year. Al was also very active at Emmanuel Lutheran Church serving in voice choir, greeting, ushering and food pantry volunteer. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, he also committed himself to Parkinson support and exercise groups and became facilitator of the Racine group.

On October 28, 2001, Al was united in marriage to the former June Molbeck. They would have celebrated their tenth anniversary next month. Al was an accomplished artist, whose work has been displayed at Wustum Art Museum, Racine Historical Museum and Racine Choral Arts Society programs. He enjoyed carving, painting and sketching. Al was an avid fisherman and held several world fishing records. After his retirement, he spent Friday mornings with dear friends, Karel and Danny, fishing around Racine and Kenosha area lakes and rivers.

Al is survived by his wife, June; brother, John; sister, Sally Harmsen; daughter, Sherry Hartog and her husband Ron Berger; son, Kenneth Hartog and wife Sharna; grandchildren Scott Dix, Jr.(Marie), Morgan Dix (Coral Lindloff), Christina Hartog (Mike DeMay) and Joshua Stoll; his first great-grandson, Xavier DeMay; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, too many to count.

In addition, survivors include his wife's sister, Shirley (Evert) Carlson; brother, Richard (Mary) Green; June's children, Todd (Monica) Molbeck, Mike Molbeck, Kevin (Marcie) Molbeck, Kipp (Stephanie) Molbeck, Janis (Joe) Dye, Jill (Dale) Tomalin; as well as grandchildren, Jenni and Jeff (Kacie) Dye, Bennett, Emma and Stella Tomalin, Adam (Ashley) Molbeck; and great-grandson, Dathon Dye; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. Aside from his parents and former wife, Al was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia and Marilee; grandson, Joshua Dix; and nephew, David Harmsen

Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 725 High St., Racine, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, from 9 - 11 a.m. with a Memorial Service following immediately with Rev. Susan K. Smith officiating. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. The family would like to invite those who wish to wear a hat of any kind in Al's honor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Health Care Network or Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

William 'Bill' C. Vague Sr.

Keshena, WI -- William “Bill” C. Vague Sr., age 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay. He fought a short but valiant battle against cancer, never losing his wonderful sense of humor. Bill was born in Milwaukee on June 13, 1953.

Bill attended St. John’s Military Academy. After graduating, Bill worked 31 years at J.I. Case (CNH) holding various positions, retiring in 2002. He resided mostly in Racine and Kenosha, retiring and moving up north to Keshena. Bill enjoyed relaxing, playing video and computer games, watching TV, spending time with his family and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Christina Vague, Joanna Vague, Kenneth Vague, William C. Vague Jr., Lynn (Clint) Callies; eight grandchildren; parents, Harold and Doris Vague; sisters, Cheryl Vague, Jackie (Karl) Nelson; niece, Emily; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Oak Creek. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Memorials to the family have been suggested.
