Betty Pugh, age 86, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Harmony House. Betty was born in Racine on August 14, 1925, daughter of the late Harry and Violet (Nee: Fiddler) Hall. On January 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to William Pugh, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Helen) Pugh, Dick (Lisa) Pugh, Charlotte (Paul) Crist; seven wonderful grandchildren; 13 adorable great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert H. Hall; and dear friends.
Private funeral services were held with interment at Mound Cemetery. Memorials to the Last House on the Block Inc., 1303 Chatham Street, Racine, WI 53402, a non-profit organization dedicated to sober living or to The Republican Party have been suggested.

Theodore Edward 'Tedd' or 'Teddy' Nicikowski
Theodore E. Nicikowski, 76, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints.
Theodore was born in Racine to Stanley Sr. and Nellie (nee: Klus) Nicikowski on July 22, 1935. He lived in Racine all his life. He graduated from St. Catherine High School and was proud to join the United States Air Force. Tedd served as a pilot in the Air Force from 1954 until 1958 at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. A year later, on September 5, 1959, Tedd was united in marriage to Sharon L. Christensen.
Tedd was very devoted in the Catholic faith. He was a former member of St John Nepomuk Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. Tedd was a very hard worker. He was employed by Renault, American Motors Corp. and Chrysler Corp. On May 30 2004, he retired after 46 years due to health issues. Tedd was a member of the Union Time Study for 20 years. He enjoyed his birdies and his dog, Ribbons. Most importantly, he devoted his life to his family and was a very good provider to everyone he knew.
Teddy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; daughter, Sheri; son, Teron; two brothers, Stanley Jr. and Bernard (Mary); sister, Regina (Alex) Alexander; sister-in-laws, Joni (Walter) Meehan; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death an infant daughter, Jana Mary, on August 13, 1960; his parents, Stanley Sr. and Nellie Nicikowski; in-laws, Alvin J. Christensen and Marge (Gordon) Krueger; and sister-in-law, Millie Nicikowski.
A funeral Mass will be held at St Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3035 Drexel Ave., on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Mark Jones celebrating. Interment will follow with full military honors at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday evening, July 5, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the next morning from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Mass. Caroline V. (Orttel) Wemmert
Caroline V. Wemmert, age 84, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center with her family at her side. She was born in Racine, June 26, 1928. The daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Nee: Kout) Orttel, she had been a lifelong resident.
Caroline graduated from Wm Horlick High School. On February 12, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Wemmert. Caroline was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed watching the Food Channel, and was a Chicago Bears fan. Above all, it was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she enjoyed most. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Bob; six children, Katherine Wemmert, Barbara (Jim) Hyttel, Sharon Lewis, Nancy LaRue, Robert A. Paul Samuel Haumersen
Mount Pleasant – Paul S. Haumersen, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 28, 2012.
Paul was born in Racine to Charles and Gertrude (nee: Lahr) Haumersen on March 16, 1932. He graduated from Washington Park High School and lived in Racine his whole life. Paul proudly joined the United States Air Force on June 10, 1952, and served for two years. Paul was united in marriage to Bonnie Fredrickson on June 6, 1953, in Racine at Calvary Memorial Church. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on January 14, 1954.
Paul attended Wheaton College and earned a degree in business. He was proud to be the only father to play with the Wheaton College football team. He graduated in 1956. Paul was employed by Western Publishing in educational sales for 36 years. He retired on July 6, 1992. Paul was a member of Racine Bible Church for 60 years, serving as an Elder, Missionary Committee Chairman and Youth Leader with his wife, Bonnie. Paul enjoyed going up north to the cabins and going to The Villages in Florida. He especially loved spending time with his dear wife who he has loved for 62 years and also his family.
Paul will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Bonnie; daughter, Paula (Tom) Cecchini and their children, Rachel and Rob Holmstedt, Kate and Nick Harms and Laura and Phil Patek; son, Peter (Julie) Haumersen and their children, Kelly and Steve Schulz, Tim, Jeff, Marybeth, Dan, Carl, Connie, David and Kathy Haumersen; daughter, Mary (Jim) Brusko and their children, Michael Brusko and Sarah (Andy) Graf; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Merrill Mulder; sisters, Carol (Myron) Wiersum and Sally (Harold) Hay; brother, David (Kathy) Haumersen; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Ballantyne; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Marion H. (Mainland) Johnston
Marion Helen Johnston, age 89, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Willowcrest Care Center, South Milwaukee. She was born in Racine, June 21, 1923, daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Nee: Olsen) Mainland.
Marion graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1942.” On June 29, 1946, at Atonement Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Richard J. Johnston, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2002. Marion retired from The Uniform Shop where she was employed for many years. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of the Wisconsin Scottish Inc. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Lynn Johnston; sister, Jean Olson; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Mainland ; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marion is further survived by her very special extended family, Linda and James Dibble; grandchildren, Katherine Dibble, Jennifer and Kevin Dahlen, Elizabeth Dibble; great-grandchildren, Shawna, Brandon, Joslynne, Brady and Makayla; and many dear friends.

Marlene Marie Huntley
Marlene M. Huntley, 73, passed away in Kenosha at the Aurora Medical Center on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Marlene was born in Racine to the late William and Marie (nee: Goetsch) Nadler on May 5, 1939. She lived in Racine for all of her life. She graduated with a teaching degree in 1961 from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. In Racine, at Evangelical United Methodist Church, Marlene was united in marriage to Daniel D. Huntley on October 20, 1962.
Mrs. Huntley started her working career as a first grade teacher with Racine Unified Schools. After starting her family, and then with the loss of her husband, she resumed her working role as assistant manager at Open Pantry. She then took a job in downtown Racine at Doering Jewelry. She also opened That Deli Downtown. In 1985 she resumed her teaching career with Racine Unified School District. Mrs. Huntley retired in 2001.
Marlene was a life member of Evangelical United Methodist Church. She was their children’s choir director for many years. She was also on the board of Downtown Racine Association. She was an avid reader, worked on crossword puzzles and loved music. Marlene was very passionate about her VW Beetle and enjoyed traveling to Shawano Lake and Door County. In her later years, she was constantly on Facebook and playing Farmville. Most importantly, Marlene loved her precious grandchildren. She was always involved in their lives and activities.
Marlene will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Carla Huntley and Kim (Richard) Garcia; three grandchildren, Emmett, Ethan and Kelly Garcia; and her special K-9 companion, Lady. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel D. Huntley, on August 23, 1970; her parents, William and Marie Nadler; and her in-laws, Rev. Laroy and Mildred Huntley.
Memorial services will be held at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 212 - 11th Street, on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Raymond E. Verwey
Raymond E. Verwey, age 86, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Raymond was born in Portage LaPrairie, Manitoba, Canada, on September 17, 1925, son of the late John E. and Marie Verwey.
During World War II Raymond proudly served in the United States Army First Calvary Division stationed in the South Pacific. On June 10, 1948, in Conway, ND, he was united in marriage to Jean A. Ryan, who preceded him in death on December 28, 2001. Raymond was employed as a supervisor at Racine Steel Castings for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. Throughout his life he was an avid sportsman who enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing and umpiring softball games. Above all, he was a loving and dedicated family man and will be dearly missed.
