
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Elaine; his daughter, Judy Mertins; grandchildren, Kris Cashmore of Racine, Steven (Phyllis) Mertins of Fond du Lac, Eric (Melissa) Mertins of Racine, James Mertins (Stephanie) of Racine; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Andrew, Caitlin, Arthur and Tommy; two sisters, Marge Haluska and Jeanette Domanico; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Don) Stephens, Carol (Gene) Heck, Mert Witkofski, Elmer Witkofski; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Reverend John D. Aiello officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the church 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flower memorials to the family or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and staff and the staff at Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
