Frances L. (Riley) Hempel

Frances L. Hempel, age 89, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, at Becker-Shoop Center. She was born in Racine, February 5, 1919, daughter of the late Melvin and Mary (Nee: Chartraw) Riley and had been a lifelong Racine resident.

On April 10, 1937, she was united in marriage to George J. Hempel who passed away June 29, 1991. Frances was employed by Racine County Courts as a deputy clerk for 18 ½ years and was a member of the Racine County Retiree Assn. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Above all she was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Georgina (James) Stasiak of Knob Noster, MO, William (Nancy) Hempel Sr. of Racine, James (Marlene) Hempel of Zapata, TX, Richard (Alberta) Hempel of Racine, Thomas (Linda) Hempel of Spokane, WA; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John “Jack”, James “Bud”, Thomas Riley, and two infant sons.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2008, 11 A.M. at Faith United Methodist Church 1013 Harmony Dr. with Reverend Lois Grebe officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be held Monday at the church, 10 A.M. until time of service. Memorials to Faith United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Assn have been suggested.
