
Maxine was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church since 1949; also a member of Johnson Park and Washington Park Women’s Golf Clubs. She was a volunteer for St. Mary’s Auxiliary. Maxine was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage, traveling there twice over the years with a contingency of family from across the United States.
Surviving is her husband, John; sons, Craig (Linda) Swanson of Brandon, FL, and Scott (Julie) Swanson of Kirkland, WA; daughter, Sharyl (Ross) Zeller of Kenosha; brother, Dr. Roger (Barbara) Olson of Frederick, MD; sister-in-law, Helen Christensen of Harlingen, TX; step-children, Kathy (David) Sowinski, Janice Pisarek, Marilyn (Curt) Bolton and John (Becky) Ludwiczak; grandchildren, Megan (Jared) Brieske, Josh (Nicole) Zeller, Nate Zeller, Jason (Danielle) Swanson and Stacey (Jeff) Houck; great-grandchildren, Holley Swanson, Jacob, Olivia and Kate Brieske, Jack and Owen Zeller and Ella Houck. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. Sixth St., on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Kathy Brown officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the church on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday before services from 9 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Communion Food Pantry have been suggested.
