Margaret E. Arndt

Margaret E. Arndt, age 83, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove, WI. Margaret was born in Racine on October 20, 1928, daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Nee: Holler) Arndt.

Margaret was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1947.” She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Margaret had been employed by Walker Manufacturing for a number of years and was last employed at High Standard.

After retirement she found great joy helping in the kitchen at Totero’s. An avid Cubs fan, Margaret also enjoyed knitting, playing poker and shopping, especially for others. More than anything she treasured time spent with her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

 Survivors include her brothers and sister, James Arndt, Charles Arndt, both of Racine, Marion Witkofski of Racine; sisters-in-law, Emily Arndt of Sturtevant, Beverly Arndt of Racine; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry, William Richard; and her sister, Louis (Al) Kristan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass

Eleanor H. (Meredith) Collins

Apache Junction, AZ -- Surrounded by her loving family, Eleanor Hazel (nee: Meredith) Collins, 88, formerly of Racine, passed away at her winter residence on November 14, 2011.

 A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 3, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Liz Simmons officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from noon time of service at 1 p.m.

Arthur P. Jorgenson

Arthur P. Jorgenson, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his residence. Arthur was born in Racine, September 20, 1921, son of the late Arthur P. and Eva M. (Nee: Johnson) Jorgenson Sr. and was a lifelong Racine resident.

Arthur was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1938.” During World War II Arthur proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre as Lieutenant JG aboard the LST 584. On June 28, 1947, in Racine he was united in marriage to Jeannette Frank. In 1966 Arthur founded Plastic Parts Inc, and was currently still serving as President.

Arthur was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Gideons. He served as former director of the North Side Bank, former trustee of North Central College, Naperville, IL, and on the school board at Wind Point School. He cherished time spent with his family, especially their trips to Clearwater, FL.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-four years, Jeannette; his children, Jacqueline L. (Mark) Kartman, Sharon L. Jorgenson, Jeffrey P. (Katherine) Jorgenson, Jill R. (Chris) Osiecki; his twelve grandchildren, Paul Kartman, Ben Kartman, Brenna Osiecki, Brandon Osiecki, , Madeline Johnston, Gavin Johnston, Mara Johnston, David Johnston, Jenna Johnston, Joshua Jorgenson, Lillian Jorgenson, Caleb Jorgenson; his great-grandson, Colby Kartman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elmo (Marion) Halverson, James Engholt, Glen (Judy) Frank, Lorraine (Ron) Scoville, Virginia (Richard) Lambrecht; many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Engholt.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 212 11th St., with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. (Prayer service at 4 p.m.) and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Gideon’s International have been suggested.

Mary Ann Miller

Mary Ann Miller, age 71, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Mary Ann was born in Brunswick, Maine, on September 16, 1940, daughter of Oliva P. and Blanche (Nee: Jalbert) LaChance.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Brunswick High School “Class of 1958” and worked at the Jarvis Restaurant and Chamber of Commerce in Maine. She was last employed at Racine Industries for many years until her retirement in 2010. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Steven Miller of Racine, Melinda (Randy) Gorman of Middleville, NY, Christina Sagal of Racine; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Marci) Miller, Amanda Miller, Danny Obuchowski, Joshua Gorman, Michael Gorman (fiancee, Melissa Keiper), Christopher Deschler (fiancée, Kim Kaczmarowski), Alexander and Rose Sagal; her great-grandchildren, Nazriah, A’ziah, Jovan Jr., Victoria, Gabriella and Rebekkah; two brothers, Robert (Sharon) LaChance, George (Marjorie) LaChance; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Mary Ann is now reunited with her dear friend, Ruth A. Miller, who preceded her in death, September 7, 2011.

Penny J. (Martinsen) Scott

Penny J. Scott, age 55, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Penny was born in Racine, June 28, 1956, daughter of the late Arnold and Helen (Nee: Teliin) Martinsen.

On June 23, 1979, in Racine she was united in marriage to Jimmy D. Scott who preceded her in death, October 9, 2003.

Penny was employed by HFI Fluid Power Products for twenty-three years up until her illness. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, but more than anything she loved spending time with friends, family, and especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her two daughters and son-in-law, Trisha Scott, Katie (Joe) Thomas, all of Racine; her grandchildren, Adam Velasquez Jr., Jacob Velasquez, Tatiana Thomas; sister, Lee Ann Martinsen of Long Beach, CA; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Dorothy Scott of Sturtevant; sister-in-law, Elaine Scott of Kenosha; brother-in-law, Dwight (Jean) Scott of Racine; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m.

George T. Fineran

George T. Fineran, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his residence. George was born in Janesville, WI, on June 16, 1921 to the late Thomas and Alice (Nee: Birmingham) Fineran.

On December 26, 1953, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Helen M. Leech, who preceded him in death, October 29, 2010. George was a fan of, and active in, sports having played Professional Minor League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs and later coaching his sons’ Little League teams in various sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Brewers, Badgers, Packers and Bucks. George enlisted in World War II and served in the 5th Ranger Battalion in the European and African campaigns. He was a proud recipient of the Presidential Citation. He was in many major battles including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.

George was a dedicated father and husband, taking care of his wife, Helen, during her long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He loved his sons, and looked forward to their visits, especially when they brought their dogs.

George is survived by his sons, Thomas Fineran, Patrick “Paddy” Fineran; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bart; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gerene; a sister, Mary; and a brother, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zerkel officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.

Michael 'Jake' W. Jacobson

Michael “Jake” William Jacobson, age 60, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Hospice House in Kenosha. Michael was born in Racine on April 7, 1952, son of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Nee: Saas) Jacobson.

Mike graduated from J.I. Case High School “Class of 1970” and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 - 1976. On December 9, 1978, he was united in marriage to Mary Lucksted. Through the years he was employed as a sheet metal fabricator by Bert Jensen & Sons, Illinois Range and Martin Petersen Company. Mike was avid Packers and Brewers Fan. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his siblings, Mary (Jack), Kathy and John (Carol); nephews and nieces, Matthew, Sean, Lee, Lori (Keith), Jodi, Kelly; and his “little love,” his great-niece, Ava Jacobson; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Herbert.

Private services will be held with interment at West Lawn Memorial Park.
