Dorothy A. (Jardee) Herchian

Dorothy Agnes Herchian, age 81, passed away Tuesday evening, June 5, 2012, in High Point, NC. Dorothy was born in Racine, August 15, 1930, daughter of the late Ulva and Agnes (nee: DuPont) Jardee.

On August 27, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage at St. Patrick Catholic Church to the love of her life, George Thomas Herchian, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2011. Dorothy had been employed with St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hamilton Beach and lastly with the law firm, Foley, Capwell and Seehawer. She enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles. Above all, she loved her time with her family.

Survivors include her son Gary (Stacey) Herchian of Kenosha; daughter, Gail (Ray) Mc Cubbins of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Heather (Jason) LeMieux of High Point, NC, Tyler Herchian of Racine, Whitney Herchian of Madison; great-granddaughter, Jasmyne LeMieux of High Point, NC; sisters-in-law, Betty Jardee, Alice Jardee, Dorothy Frederickson, Lucy Widmar; brother-in-law, Augie Herchian, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Bernie Jardee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., Monday June 11, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Antony Thomas officiating, assisted by Deacon Russell Missureli. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

Robert 'Bob' Walter Steidl

Robert “Bob” Walter Steidl passed away at the young age of 51 at his residence in Florida on June 4, 2012.  Bob was born on August 14, 1960, in Racine, WI.  He is a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School and joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter where he proudly served his country.  After returning from his military service, Bob operated his own business for many years where he specialized in roofing and carpentry.  He also extensively renovated two homes for his family.

Bob was a proud father and took great pride in his children’s accomplishments.  Bob was outgoing and well versed in many topics and loved to engage family and friends in conversation.

Robert is survived by Monika Steidl and their two loving children, Kevin and Andrea Steidl; his father, Jerome (Billie) Steidl; sisters, Patricia (LaMonte) Bohman, and Nancy (Rick) Fink; his brother, Donald Steidl; two step-sisters, Jane (George) Weyenberg, and Jody (Neal) Persky; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.  Bob was preceded in death by his loving mother, Phyllis Steidl (Nee: Guenther); and his grandparents, Florence and Walter Guenther and Jacob and Anna Steidl.

Family and friends may meet with the family on Monday, June 18, 2012,  at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Private interment will be held with full military honors at the National Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota Florida on June 15, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wounded Warriors have been suggested.

Infant Olivia Dawn Burkhammer

Infant Olivia Dawn Burkhammer, received her wings, Monday, June 4, 2012. Olivia was born in West Allis on May 23, 2012, daughter of Asia R. Cormican and Kiel D. Burkhammer.

Olivia is survived by her parents, Asia and Kiel; her sister, Lillee Marie Burkhammer; her grandparents, Claude and Ann Burkhammer, Sue and Vic Manchester, Todd and Patti Cormican; her great-grandparents, Dawn Stublaski, Kay and Clayton Paczkowski, Geraldine and Richard Cormican; aunts and uncles, Megan Burkhammer, Brittney Cormican, Nikki Manchester, Morgan Manchester, Tony Cresco, Dan Cresco; great aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

A Mass of Angels will be celebrated at St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Drive, Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.

John 'Jack' P. Helland

John “Jack” P. Helland, age 85, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove, WI. Jack was born in Racine on September 27, 1926, son of the late Albert and Ruth (Nee: Christiansen) Helland.

Jack was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1945. He served in the United States Army from 1945-1946. On February 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Sue A. Smith.

Jack was employed by S.C. Johnson Wax for thirty-three years, retiring in 1984 at Waxdale as Manager of the warehouse. He was a member of the S.C. Johnson “20-Year Club” and a longstanding member of Meadowbrook Country Club.

Jack enjoyed golf, badminton and baseball. He also enjoyed playing gin rummy and poker with his family and friends. He had a one-of-a- kind dry sense of humor, for which he will long be remembered. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; his children, Kathleen (Dennis) Dieckhoff, Elizabeth (Tom) Pero, all of Racine, Nancy Helland (Michael Good) of Shorewood, WI; his two grandchildren, Laura (Jeff) Dose, Mark (Kelsy) Dieckhoff; his great-granddaughter, Ayla Dose; sisters-in-law, Carol Helland, Karolyn Foley, Rose (Peter) Christensen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert (Lucy) Helland, James (Margaret) Helland, and Robert Helland.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday, June 8, 2012, at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., followed by a Remembering Service at 6:30 p.m. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Henny T. Hansen

Mrs. Henny (nee: Thomsen) Hansen, 100, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center.

Henny was born in Fredrickshaven, Denmark, on January 18, 1912, to the late Alfred F. and Laura P. (nee: Jensen) Thomsen. In 1915, at the age of 3, she immigrated with her parents to Racine where she lived most of her life. Henny also had lived in Pelican Lake for 17 years and Palmyra for five years. It was in Palmyra that she was united in marriage to Wilbur R. Hansen on July 8, 1938.

Henny had been employed by Kresge’s Dime Store for over 10 years. During World War II she was employed by the United States Post Office and then the Rhinelander Paper Company for over 10 years. She retired in 1960. Henny was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she had served as a former president of Unit 76 in Racine. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet and crafts.

Henny will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, Barbara L. Jensen, Mark (Karen) Thomsen, Ellen (Rev. David) Solevad, Janet (Tom) Weber, and Daniel (Diane) Thomsen; dear friend, Clifford Garski; as well as other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur R. Hansen Sr.; step-son, Wilbur R. Hansen Jr.; her sister, Ella (Walter) Jensen; and two brothers, Jack P. Thomsen and Carl E. (Anna May) Thomsen.

Private services in honor of Henny will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mary E. 'Polly' (Cahoon) Schnetz

Mary Elizabeth “Polly” Schnetz, age 87, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at her residence. Polly was born in Racine on November 3, 1924, daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (Nee: Clanton) Cahoon.

Polly graduated from Milwaukee Downer Seminary High School, attended Lawrence University and graduated from Northwestern University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Foreign Languages. On July 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert T. Schnetz, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1992.

Polly was employed by the Racine Unified School District as an educational assistant for 21 years, retiring in 1983. Before that, she worked for the Racine County Human Services Department as a social worker for four years and also volunteered at the Racine Public Library Children’s Department for 11 years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Junior League of Racine. Polly enjoyed playing bridge and spending her Tuesdays as part of the Taco Belles, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She really appreciated and enjoyed all her friendships. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, James R. Schnetz of Plano, TX, Mary M. Schnetz of Madison, WI, and Susie E. (Mike) Krekling of Racine; grandchildren, Robert T. Schnetz, Matthew and Kelsey Krekling; a sister, Suzanne (Clift) Price of Austin, TX; nieces, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; and daughter-in-law, Karen.

Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave., on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, from 11 a.m. until noon. At noon, funeral services will be held with Reverend Ben Johnston-Krase officiating. Private interment will be held at Mound Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

Diane M. (Zeiler) Danowski

Diane M. Danowski, age 71, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at Willowcrest Care Center, South Milwaukee, WI. Diane was born in Racine, April 9, 1941, daughter of the late Henry and Helen K. (Nee: Duda) Zeiler.

Diane was a graduate of Waterford Union High School. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse at Gateway Technical Institute and took further studies at Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Diane was last working at the Lincoln Lutheran Home as supervisor and was Assistant Director of the Senior Program at the Racine Urban League.

She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Diane was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who cherished time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Peter (Susan) Danowski of Caledonia, Dennis (Kimberly) Danowski of Barnes, David (LeAnn) Danowski of Waterford; her five grandchildren, Jacob and Alex, Jordan, Dalton and Evan; brothers and sisters, Charles (Marlene) Zeiler of Metropolis IL, James (Susan) Zeiler of Webster, Kathy Schattner of Union Grove, Elaine (Dick) Reesman of Mukwonago, Mary (Mike) Spalding of Tichigan, Janet (Mark) Shimkus of Racine; sister-in-law, Margie Zeiler of Waterford; Very Special Friend, Paul Zierk of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Danowski, and brother, John Zeiler.
