George P.
Loumos, age 89, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Middleton, WI. George was born in
Kenosha, WI, on November 4, 1919, son of the late Paul and
Pagona (Nee:
Lampodemetropoulou)
Loumos.

During World War II George served in the United States Navy Air Force and was the proud recipient of a medal for serving in the Central and South Pacific. On November 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Angeline
Filandrinos, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1999. George and his brother, Tom, owned and operated the Driftwood Restaurant for twenty years, retiring in 1989.
He was a life-long member of the
Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, serving on the Board and as President for many years. George managed
Easterday Paint Company until operating the Driftwood Restaurant in
Sturtevant with his brother and “my best friend,” Tom.
George was actively involved in several organizations including serving as the founding president of the
Sturtevant Kiwanis Club (Greater Mt. Pleasant), board member of the Crime Stoppers of Racine County, member and past president of the American Hellenic Education Progressive Association, past president of the
Sturtevant Chamber of Commerce, and 20-year member of the Planning Commission of
Sturtevant. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed golfing with the Johnson Park Seniors, Ives Grove Seniors and Maple Crest Seniors Leagues. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

Maragos, also preceded George in death.
Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the
Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Road, on Saturday, January 3, 2009, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend John
Ketchum officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Cemetery,
Kenosha, WI. Memorials to the
Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church have been suggested.
