Dolores was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, “Class of 1939,” and Moore Business College. On November 24, 1945, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Frank P. La Brasca, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1996. She and her husband owned and operated West Racine Superette and Varsity Boot Shop for numerous years. Dolores was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church and Christian Mothers and Altar Society, Catholic Women’s Club, and St. Mary’s Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. Above all she devoted her life to her family and will be deeply missed.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Arthur) Lechner of Union Grove, WI; sister, Margaret (Norbert) Kosterman of Racine; sister-in-law, Mary Cefalu of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives, many dear friends, and her faithful companion, Buffy. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, George (Jean) Hegeman; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Camille (Bill) Horak, and Joseph Cefalu.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ron Gramza officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church or Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
Dolores’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Martini, nurses, and staff and Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center C.V.I. II and Hospice House staff for their loving and compassionate care.
