Lucien G. Osborne, age 87, bade farewell for the last time on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in the presence of those he loved. Lucien was born in Racine, May 29, 1921, son of the late William
Vandervoort and Adele (Nee:
Gianella) Osborne and was a longtime resident.

Lucien attended the Racine Military Academy and was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1938.” Furthering his education he received Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University. While attending the university and post graduate studies he belonged to Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and played trumpet in the University Band Following college he worked in Akron, Ohio, at Goodyear Aircraft Corp making dirigible blimps. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served as an Executive Officer during the invasion of Okinawa on the
YNG 28.
After the war he joined his family at Lakeside Malleable eventually becoming President. This later became known as Lakeside Sales and most recently expanded to include
Ridgeway Mfg and
LGO Global Sourcing where Lucien served as C.E.O. He was a member of numerous organizations including: University Club of Chicago, sixty-year member of the American Foundry Society, Racine Country Club,
DeKoven Foundation Society, NUMB Alums, Bulldog Bowling Club and Bogey Club. Little known facts about Lucien include that he was a Baron of the O & E Railroad, and was an ex-member in bad standing with the
Procrastinators Club. He was a loving father, grandfather and good friend. He will be deeply missed for his kindness and wonderful sense of humor.

Gianella Osborne of Grass Valley, CA, Louise Osborne (Greg) Banks of
Harford, PA; his grandchildren, Captain William

LCDR Nancy Osborne USN) currently serving in Afghanistan, Jessica Durand Osborne of Portland, OR, Kipp Osborne
Macgregor of Steamboat Springs, CO, Duncan O. (Rachael)
Macgregor of
Edinburg, Scotland, Sarah Patton Banks of South River, NJ, Adele
Gianella Banks of Scranton, PA, Nathaniel Smith of Madison, WI, Amy (Joshua) Nicholas of
Delavan, WI; his great-grandson, Hunter Nicholas; lifetime special and loving friend, L.J.
McCotter of Lake Bluff, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Lois Osborne of
Franksville, WI; nieces and nephew, Consuela, Beatrice, and David Osborne; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert
Vandervoort Osborne, and nephew, Robert
Vandervoort Osborne Jr.
Funeral services will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 614 Main St., Racine, on Monday, September 22, 2008, at 6 p.m. with Mother Martha Berger officiating. Private interment will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee with Bishop C. Perry Erskine presiding. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the 6 p.m. service. Reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family for the memorial fund.
