Rose L. Scholzen

Rose L. Scholzen, 94, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints on Sunday, May 31, 2009. She was born in Racine on May 2, 1915, the daughter of the late Jacob and Katherine (nee: Siminic) Klass.

Mrs. Scholzen had been employed by the Hamilton Beach Company and later retired from the Mamco Corporation in 1978. She was a longtime member of St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and Altar Sodality, and the Mamco 20-Year Club. She was a die hard Cub’s fan and wished she could live long enough to see them in another World Series.

Surviving are her three children, Nancy Belongia, her children, Pamela Belongia and Keith (Analyn) Belongia, all of Racine, David Scholzen, his children, Karen Ann (Jeff) Lisiecki, their children, Jaden and Ryan of Eagle, WI, and Michael David ( Martha Villalobos and her son Orlando) Scholzen, of Kenosha and his son Teddy Scholzen, Patricia (Michael) Koutelakis of Racine, their daughter, Christina Maria (Panagiotis) Xytakis, and their children Angela and Nicholas all of Chios, Greece. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive her.

Mrs. Scholzen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ted, on Sept. 17, 1993; beloved granddaughter Susan Belongia-Stock; brothers and sisters, Frank Klass, Mary Luedtke, John Klass, Kathryn Hoffman, Joseph Klass, and Theresa Johnson, also preceded her in death.

Her con-celebrated Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 4, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 15th and Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza and Rev. Edwin J. Kersten O.S.A. officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and in the church on Thursday from 9:30 .a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. The family has suggested memorials to, St. Richard’s Church, Lincoln Lutheran Facilities, or St. Catherine’s High School.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rudy Byron, his staff, as well as, the entire staff of Lincoln Lutheran Village for their care and concern shown Rose and her family.
