Beatrice P. (Chvilicek) Niesen

Surrounded by her loving family at home, Beatrice Pauline Niesen, age 88, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012. She was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, on June 21, 1924, daughter of the late Vincent and Agnes (Nee: Kupka) Chvilicek.

On June 3, 1944, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Niesen, who preceded her in death on October 23, 1994. With a strong faith, Beatrice was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. John Nepomuk. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, gardening, Lake Michigan, nature and all of God’s creatures. Her loving care and devotion to her husband and family was a lifelong example to her children, who regarded her as “Best Mom and Grandma Ever.” Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by all of “her favorites”.

Surviving are her children, Don (Judi) Niesen, Donna (Cubby) Nondorf, Dianne (Darrell) Forsyth, Dorothy (Brian) Whitehead, Dorene (Ron) Wrycza, Doris (Pete) Nelson, Denise “Molly” (Andy) Cross; grandchildren, Don (Lisa) Niesen, Kelly (Joe) Harrison, Geoff Niesen, Gail (Todd) Neustifter, John (Bryn) Nondorf, Shelly (Victor) Lombardi, Laisa Cowen-Forsyth (Jack) Dampier), Dylan Cowen-Forsyth, Eric Feest, Ben (Liz) Feest, Michelle Feest, Justin Whitehead, Ron (Jackie) Wrycza, Randy Wrycza, Christy (Ben) Bowman, Melissa (Paul) Jenner, Pete Nelson Jr., Heather (Luck) Rodriguez, Dale Nelson, Jason, Kevin and Jessica Cross; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evie Jorgensen, Rose (Don) Veselik; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Mayer and Martha Graham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at noon at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Reverend Ronald Gramza officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
