Raymond C. Therkelsen Sr.

Raymond C. Therkelsen Sr., age 80, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Mauston, WI. Raymond was born in Racine on October 6, 1931, son of the late John and Magnilda (Nee: Jensen) Therkelsen Sr.

During the Korean Conflict Raymond proudly served in the United States Air Force as a supplies specialist. Before his retirement, Raymond was employed by Jacobsen Textron for over thirty-five years. In 2005 Raymond moved to Mauston. He was a past member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Ducks Unlimited. Mechanically inclined, Raymond enjoyed tinkering with clocks, locks, radios and tractors. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his six children, Cathleen (Kurt) Gorman, Kelly Martinez, Sandra (Dennis) Beckett of Racine, Raymond Therkelsen Jr., Sheila Lucas, Ronald Therkelsen (fiancée, Lynn ), of Mauston; his six grandchildren, Tara Therkelsen (Jason Jonas), Tasha Maresh (Joe Slusar), Matthew Martinez, Frank DeLaCruz, Rachel DeLaCruz, Arthur Lucas; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan, Camryn, Andrea and Ava; sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Kastensen of Franksville, Carol Lee of Racine; brother, Bruce (Darlene) Therkelsen of Kenosha; sister-in-law, Ruth Therkelsen of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Jr., Erwin, Richard; and sisters, Elaine LaFrania and Lois Broe.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
