Johnnie Mae (Robinson) Bennett

 Johnnie Mae Bennett, age 69, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013, in Birmingham, Alabama. Johnnie was born in Bessemer, Alabama, January 7, 1944, daughter of the late Johnny and Lizzie Ann (Nee: Harris) Robinson and relocated to Racine in 1985.

On April 1, 1966, she was united in marriage to Bartholomew Bennett who preceded her in death  on July 18, 2013. She was employed by General Converters Assemblers for over twenty years, last working as plant manager until her retirement in 2011. Johnnie was a dedicated member of Christ Chapel where she served on the Mother Board and taught Sunday school. Johnnie was a dedicated member of Christ Chapel where she served on the Mother Board, was a Sunday school teacher, a trustee, and head of kitchen ministry. Her life evolved around church, work, and family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Stevie (Lisa) Bennett, Royreka Bennett; her grandchildren, Allen Smith, Tameisha and Lelia Gage, LaZahnae’ Neyhana, and Deontré Bennett; her great-granddaughter, Nikia Maya Lilly; brothers, Ruben (Celeste) Bell, James Robinson, John Rodger (Dorothy) Robinson, Ben (Lillian) Robinson, Charlie (Belinda) Robinson; sisters, Annie (Robert) Harris, Williemae (Ernest) Gardner, Maryann (Paul) Allen, Jeanette (John) Brown; nieces, nephews, host of other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Bennett, October of 2010; and her brothers, Willie Robinson and John H. Robinson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Christ Chapel MBC Inc., 815 Park, with Rev. Mark Gates officiating. Interment will be held Monday, October 7, 2013, at Graceland Cemetery,  at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Scott Kamillie and his staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for all their loving and compassionate care.
