Verna Braun

Verna Braun, age 96, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at her residence.  Verna was born in Racine on November 12, 1916, daughter of the late Mary A. (Nee:  Mueller) and Nicholas H. Braun Sr.

Verna was a cook employed by Sears for over twenty years until her retirement.  Previously she was a housekeeper  for Dr. Peehn. Verna was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church.   She was a giving person who always liked to keep busy helping her family and friends with cooking, cleaning, babysitting or anything that needed to be done.  Verna also enjoyed bowling and crafts.  She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her sister, Katherine Perman of Racine; brother, George Braun of Seminole, FL; sister-in-law, Delores Braun of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Nicholas and Theodore.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100 95th St., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.  Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, or the Harmony Home have been suggested.
