Marshall David Paul Katch, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Shawano, WI, on April 27, 1944, son of the late Matthias and Helen (Matczak) Katch.
Marshall graduated from Pulaski High School in Pulaski, WI. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Independence during the Vietnam War.
Marshall was a journeyman electrician who retired from In-Sink-Erator. He was a member of Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church and a 30-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he helped save the lives of countless people. Marshall retired to become a professional grandfather and avid woodworker. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Anne (Conner); four children, Sara Katch, Jason Katch, Jessica (Tim) Smith, Alyssa (Duane) Nagel; stepchildren, Alison Conner, Elizabeth (Matt) Schmid, Renee Whitnall; grandchildren, Tristan Opahle, Brittany (Jordan) Lockhart, Dragon Buckner, Kaitlynn Rouse, Isabella Nagel, Lucas Katch, Joseph Katch, Angelia Nagel, Henry Schmid, Theo Schmid, Kaelin Smith; brother, Matthias “Butch” (Mary) Katch; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Awe Katch, Pamela (Bruce) Lakatos, Sammie (Dan) Zacara; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael.
A memorial service will be held at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church, 625 College Ave., on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at 3 p.m., with Reverend Dr. Tony Larsen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Smile Train have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Sr. David Knight and Dr. Wendel Friedl for their loving and compassionate care.
