Vikki L. (Allen) Berns

Vikki Lynn Berns, “V,” age 65, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center.  She was born in Racine on December 5, 1948, daughter of the late Wardlow and Gartha (Nee: Everett) Allen.

V graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1967.” She was employed by Racine Unified School District for 25 years working at Wadewitz School in Special Education and as a Librarian Assistant.  V enjoyed going to rummage sales and restoring antique furniture.  More than anything, she enjoyed all children, her own family and the years of children she worked with at school.  She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Sara Berns; grandchildren, Josephine Kirkland and Cash Berns; her siblings, Connie (Larry) Perfetto, Michael (Chris) Allen, Ronald (Theresa) Allen; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Joan, Ann, Catherine, Bill Goodall; her former husband, William Berns; and the  Darcott Family; other relatives and friends.

Private services will be held.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Engel and the Wheaton Franciscan Hospice Staff, especially Nurse Mary and Ann for their loving and compassionate care.
