Agnes C. McMahon, age 92, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Lakeshore Manor. Agnes was born in Racine, February 4, 1918, daughter of the late Leonard V. and Lillian M. (Nee: Grover) Willing and had been a lifelong resident of Racine.
On September 27, 1952, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Thomas J. McMahon who preceded her in death, February 19, 2003. She was a faithful and supportive parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church. Agnes was a caring and wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved bowling, reading, sewing and accounting and was the best cook, especially known for her peanut squares. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her eight children, Sr. Maryann McMahon O.P. of Racine, Thomas L. “Butch” McMahon of Racine, Charles J. (Linda) McMahon of Greenfield, WI, Sharon A. (David) Geertsen of Kenosha, Michael J. (Lynn) McMahon of Racine, Karen A. McMahon DeMint of Sturtevant, Kevin J. McMahon of Racine, Don McMahon of Racine; her seven grandchildren, Christopher (Tamara), Melissa, Kelly, and Michael McMahon, Joshua and Jeremy DeMint, Ethan McMahon; two great-granddaughters, Kelynn and Lillian; sisters-in-law Bernice McMahon and Jean McMahon, both of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward (Vickie) Willing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., on Thursday, August 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kevin C. Mullins officiating. Entombment will be held at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Rita Capitol Campaign, Careers Industries Foundation or to the family to be donated as they wish have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jesse DeGroat and the entire staff at Lakeshore Manor for their tender loving care of Mom.
