John T. Edwards, 90, passed away at his home on July 17, 2010.
John Edwards was born in Whitewater to the late William David and Jeanie (nee: Colbert) Edwards on January 2, 1920. He lived in Racine for most of his life. He was united in marriage to Norma Bay on October 28, 1950.
Mr. Edwards served as a mechanic in the United States Army Air Corps in the South Pacific in the 11th Bomb Group, 98th Squadron. He owned and operated Edwards’ Auto Service for many years. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, photography and coaching on various youth football and baseball leagues.
John will be dearly missed by his wife Norma; five children, John Edwards, Brian (Jean) Edwards, Julie Presley, Kathy Hasselman and Mary Edwards; one daughter-in-law, Sherri Edwards; eight grandchildren, Tony (Julie), Nina, Mark, Michael, Sara, Rebecca, Max and Danny; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Nicolette and Gage; and one sister, Mary Cliff. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Edwards; and two brothers, Henry and William Arthur Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Dover on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 9 a.m.
