Wichita, KS – Mrs. Vivian L. Heigl, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2010.
Vivian was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late John and Elsa (nee: Carlsson) Larson on May 3, 1924. In Brooklyn, NY, at Dean St. Baptist Church, on June 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Howard M. Heigl. She had moved to Wisconsin in 1946 and lived in Racine from 1964 until 2008.
Mrs. Heigl earned an undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College and continued her education by earning a Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Mrs. Heigl was employed as a mathematics lecturer at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside. She retired in 1995.
Mrs. Heigl was a member of Calvary Memorial Church and was very active with the Lend-a-Hand program. She was also a member of the Inner Wheel of Rotary International and the Wisconsin Mathematics Association. She enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. Most importantly, she loved her family and the special times with her grandchildren. She was very supportive of her family and encouraged their many endeavors.
Vivian will be dearly missed by her sons, Dr. Carl (Elizabeth) Heigl and Paul (Linda) Heigl; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Ginger), Katie, Mike, and Hans Heigl, Jacob (Nicole) and Seth Dehne; two great-grandchildren, Sydnie and Kendra Dehne; two sisters-in-law, Marie May and Claudette Heigl; one cousin, Virginia Cooper; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded death by her husband, Howard; and her son, Dr. John Heigl.
A funeral ceremony for Mrs. Heigl will be held at Calvary Memorial Church on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Nathan Joy James officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Memorial Church – the Lend-a-Hand Program or to one’s favorite charity.
