Hildegarde C. Walsh, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Hildegarde was born in Racine on March 26, 1915, daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Nee: Feest) Koleske at the white farmhouse presently located on the grounds of St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home.
Hildegarde was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1933.” On December 21, 1943, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Eugene F. Walsh, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1998. Hildegarde was employed with Hamilton Beach for twenty-nine years and Master Appliance for nine years. She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann Joachim Society, and the Catholic Women’s Club. Her pastimes included gardening and traveling. Above all, she cherished time with her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Michael) Harrington of Racine, Dennis Walsh of Florence, KY; her grandchildren, Kate (Andrew) Murphy of Imperial, MO, Ryan (Kim) Walsh of Fulton, MD, Greg (Meara) Harrington of Ellensberg, WA, Lynsey (Joe) Danneman of Edgewood, KY; her great-grandchildren, Keegan and Ashlin Murphy, Sophia, Molly and Liam Walsh, Cera Hebel, Luke and Jack Danneman; sister, Elaine Jones of Kenosha; brothers, Larry Koleske, Dan (Shirley) Koleske, all of Racine; sister-in-laws, Jo Koleske, Sandy Koleske, both of Racine; brother-in-law, Joseph Adamek of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Marie Koleske, Eleanor (George) Beyer, Frank (Laura) Koleske, Paul Koleske, Louis (Rose) Koleske, Rita (Sam) Barranco, Mark Koleske, Jack (Roberta) Koleske, Joan Adamek; and brother-in-law, Ray Jones; sisters-in-law, Mary Koleske and LaVerne Koleske.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
