Noella I. (Cote) Etzel

Caledonia -- With her loving family by her side, Noella I. Etzel, age 94, passed away peacefully at her residence Saturday, February 18, 2012. Noella was born in Chippewa Falls, WI, on December 20, 1917, daughter of the late William and Clara (Nee: Pelltier) Cote and was a resident of Racine since 2002. Prior to moving to Racine, Noella resided in Milwaukee from 1943-1973 and in Holiday, Florida, from 1973-2002.

On June 22, 1946, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, WI, she was united in marriage to Gordon C. Etzel, who preceded her in death on September 25, 1997. Noella was employed by Wisconsin Bell for twenty-five years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the Telephone Pioneers. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Noella (William) Roberts of Caledonia, Michael (Jane) Etzel of Holiday, FL; her five grandchildren, Jessie Etzel, Gordon Roberts (Jaclyn), Catherine Trevino, Jerome Etzel, Michelle (Warren) Gregory; her five great-grandchildren, Luke and Kayla Trevino, Zoie and Hazzel Roberts, Isaiah Etzel; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne; brothers, Marcel and Julian; and sisters, Octavia, Alice, Lucille, Doris, Joanne and Jeanette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Kevin Mullins O.S.A. officiating. Entombment will follow at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery, Brookfield, WI. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Rita Catholic Church or to St. Vincent De Paul Society have been suggested.
