Luella May Ziegler, age 77, was greeted and then escorted by her beloved husband, Nathan, to heaven on March 2, 2012, from Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine on February 9, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Nettie (Nee: Grant) Harcus and had been a lifelong resident.
On March 7, 1953, at Yorkville Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to Nathan G. Ziegler, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1968. Luella retired from Lincoln Lutheran Home in 2001 where she worked as a CNA since 1980. She was a member of the Lincoln Lutheran Home Twenty-Year Club, She enjoyed collecting Angels, Sudoku puzzles, playing cards and trips up north to visit her sister. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are daughters, Linda M. Ziegler, Dar Martinez; grandchildren, Adam, Mindy and Evan; great-grandson, Preston; other children , grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Harcus; sisters, Doris Walters, Irene Woodward, and Ruth Ostrander; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joann; and brothers, Richard, Russell and Raymond.
Funeral services will be held on her marriage anniversary, Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Wednesday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Private interment will be held next to her husband at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to the Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Cancer Center have been suggested.
Her daughters wish to extend a special thank you to Dr. Engel, Dr. Ulmer and the entire staff at the All Saints Cancer Center, Dr. Niebuhr, Nursing Staff of 2D and 2C, the transport Staff, and the Respiratory Staff for their loving and compassionate care.
