Margaret M. (Bonazza) Nicotera

Margaret M. Nicotera, age 84, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Margaret was born in Racine, September 7, 1927, daughter of the late Peter F. and Angeline (Nee: Mascari) Bonazza.

Margaret attended St. John Nepomuk Grade School, Washington Junior High School, and graduated from William Horlick High School “Class of 1946.” On July 16, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Ralph S. Nicotera Jr. Her pastimes included knitting and golfing. More than anything, she treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-two years, Ralph; her children, Janet (John) Tyllo of Racine, Ralph (Diane) Nicotera III of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Cindy (John) Pisanello of Racine; her grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Garbo, Mark Garbo, Martin Garbo (Ashley Cook) Amy (Andy) Lueders, Ralph (Amber) Nicotera, Brian Hart, and Danielle Hart; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn Garbo, Alex Garbo, Dominic Garbo, Matthew Garbo, Ralph Nicotera V; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Cefalu, Frank (Evelyn) Nicotera, Sylvia Quadracci, Virginia (Tom) Linden; her longtime special friend, Lucille Buchman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Garbo; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Gabriella Nicotera; brothers-in-law, Joseph Cefalu and William Quadracci.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 3:30 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to the American Heart Association have been suggested.

A very special thank you to Dr. Howard Short and his staff, Dr. Mark DeCheck and his staff, and to the nursing staff on the Cardiac ICU 3rd floor for their loving and compassionate care.
