Alvina 'Peggy' M. (Love) Liljegren

Alvina “Peggy” M. Liljegren, age 75, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital, West Allis, WI. Alvina was born in Lily, Wisconsin, on November 30, 1936, daughter of the late Elroy and Esther (Nee: Boltz) Love.

She was raised in the Lansing, IA, Waukon, IA, and New Albin, IA, area. Alvina -- “Peggy” as we all called her -- went to Klamath Falls, Oregon to live with her Aunt Sylvia Tucker for two years and graduated from Klamath Falls High School. She then went to the Iowa State Teachers College for two years and met David E. Liljegren. They were united in marriage January 31, 1958. In October of 1959 they had a son, David Allan, the love of their life! 

Alvina completed her college degree at the Dominican College in Racine in 1968 and 1969. She taught second, third and fourth grades in Kenosha, WI, for over thirty years prior to retiring. Alvina was an active member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, participating in their Adult Sunday School class. Alvina and Dave loved to travel and spend time with family. They always had a good time, whatever they did.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, David E. Liljegren, on March 19, 2012; their son, David, on February 19, 2000; two brothers, Earl and Merlin; grandparents, Peter and Alvina Boltz; and two nephews, David Steele and Larry Gordon; brother-in-law, Donald Andrews; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Liljegren.

Survivors include her son and daughter, Chanhday and Liane Phanhdara of San Pablo, CA; three grandchildren, Dolly (Kosal) Sous, Buddy (Susan) Phanhdara, Valerie (Diovanne) Jugarap; five great-grandchildren; special Aunt Syliva Tucker of Bonsall, CA; special godson Tony Love of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Jane Andrews of Chicago, IL, Edwina (Dave) Steele of New Albin, IA, Evelyn Gordon of Waterloo, IA, Grace Wellendorf of Onalaska, Lynn (Richard) Meiners of Eitzen, MN, Ruby(Johnny) Williams of LaCrosse; brothers, Donald (Teri) Love of Las Vegas, NV, Bill (Linda) Gordon of Duluth, MN, Laughn Gordon of Onalaska, Gary Gordon of Davenport, IA; brother-in-law, Richard Liljegren of Dayton, IA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services for Alvina and David Liljegren will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 212 11th St., with Rev. Dr. Creighton Kaye and Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Evangelical United Methodist Church have been suggested.
