Dorothy C. Lees, age 94, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Lakeshore Manor. Dorothy was born in Appleton, WI, on September 27, 1917, daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Nee: Boehme) Piette.
Dorothy was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1935.” On May 20, 1939, she was united in marriage to Andrew J. Lees who preceded her in death, May 16, 1999. She was employed for many years at Western Publishing Company. A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved her many travels with her husband and family around the world. She felt most honored and privileged after meeting and speaking with Mother Theresa in Rome. Dorothy enjoyed creating beautiful stained glass pieces, sewing, baking and, more than anything, she cherished time spent with her family. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Mary) Lees, Judy Shilhavy, Nancy (Dave) Petersen, Debra J. Lees; her grandchildren, Mark Shilhavy, Dawn Shilhavy, Robin (Jimm) Giles, Tammy (Michael) Lundgren, Scott Petersen, Tanya (Todd) Schober, Jason Lees, Brian Bogard (LeeAnn), Shaun Bogard, Thomas Bogard; 13 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Donald (Henriette) Piette, Margaret Goeden, Elizabeth Maurer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ron Shilhavy; two grandchildren, Todd Shilhavy and Kim Wilson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Ruth) Piette; sister, Rosemary (Joseph) Schiestle; and brothers-in-law, Henry Goeden and Herbert Maurer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 16, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
