Carol R. (Reith) Johansen

Carol R. Johansen, age 77, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at her residence. Carol was born in Racine, October 15, 1932, daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Nee: Severin) Reth.

Carol was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1950.” On May 26, 1956, at Redeemer Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Gerald C. Johansen. Carol enjoyed tending to her flower garden. Above all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Jerry; her children, Shane (Patty) Johansen of Raymond, Lynn Johansen of Racine; her grandchildren, Tony Johansen (fiancée, Adrienne Gustin), Kim Johansen, Dani Johansen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Duncanson, Jack (Carol) Johansen, Betty Johansen; nephews, Ed (Marian) Reth of VA, Mark Duncanson, Scott Duncanson, John (Gretchen) Duncanson; lifelong best friend, Esther Paul; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William; and nephew, Billy Reth.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday, October 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. George Schlagel officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice especially Bill and Penny and to the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Cancer Center for all of their loving and compassionate care
