Darcy Leigh Christensen, age 61, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at her residence. Darcy was born in Racine on November 16, 1951 daughter of the late Phillip and Dorothea (nee: Groh) Valley.
She graduated from Washington Park High School, Class of 1970. Darcy found peace and joy in her love of the arts. Not only was she a prolific writer, poet and artist, she was also an accomplished jeweler, founding and maintaining her life’s dream as owner of her Little Wing Studio. Darcy found pleasure in the simplicity of life and held dear to her heart her children, grandchildren, family, friends and beloved cat, Romeo. She spent many years providing solace to life’s smallest creatures at Belle City Vet Clinic until her illness no longer afforded her the opportunity to work. Darcy was one of a kind, and nothing short of an extraordinary soul.
Darcy leaves to cherish her memories: her two loving daughters, Holly Christensen and Madison Rose Christensen; husband/bestfriend Arne Christensen; sister, best friend and confidante, Lynn Rye; brother, Chris (Barb) Valley; as well as her two pride and joys, grandchildren Quintyn, age 5, and Nia Jordyn, age 3. She also leaves nieces and nephews, Anthony (Mandy) Rye, Daniel Rye, Christian Valley, Lindsay (Josh) Chacon; special lifelong friends, Janice Matsumoto, Elizabeth McKinney, LaVone Christensen, and Lisa Benicek, and many other countless cherished friends.
A Memorial service will be held at the funeral home Friday, March 29, 2013, at 7 p.m. with Reverend Tony Larsen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet Friday from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m.
