James J. Witek, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his residence. James was born in Racine, March 20, 1923, son of the late Andrew and Emily (Nee: Szewczyk) Witek.
On June 30, 1943, he was united in marriage to Wilma I. Allhands. During World War II he proudly served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre. James was employed by Walker Forge for forty-five years, retiring as an inspector, and was a member of their “20 Year Club.” In his younger years he was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Wilma; his children, David (Barbara Sue) Witek, Robert (Barbara Ann) Witek, Richard (Cheryl Ann) Witek; his grandchildren, Jonathan Witek, Sarah (William) Wilson, Nora Witek, Jeremy (Jessica) Witek, Christopher Witek, Cory Witek, Alyssa Witek; his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rose Svendsen, Lane Patrick Wilson, Jada Ann Spencer, Jenna Ann Witek; sisters-in-law, Lillian Witek, Marilyn D’Aquisto; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Witek; grandson, Kevin Robert Witek; brother, Walter Witek; sister, Stella “Peggy” (George) Hedrick; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Claude Allhands, Warren (Shirley) Allhands, Tony D’Aquisto, Marjory (Alfred) Mueller.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Ballew officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
