Elizabeth (Betty) J. White 88. passed away on Sunday evening August 8, 2010.
Betty was born on January 5, 1922, to Margaret (Quinn) and Joseph Knight of Beloit, Wisconsin. She was a Red Cross volunteer during WW II and was employed at Fairbanks Morse where she met Willard. They were married on April 27, 1946.
Through the years, she was involved in both Cub scouts and Brownies. She also was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, where she taught both CCD classes and First Communion classes for 17 years.
Betty and Willard enjoyed square dancing for over 30 years and belonged to the Ridge Runners Square Dance Club, where together they served as Treasurer and President for several terms.
They also belonged to the Wally Byam Airstream Club, where Betty was the first woman President of the Milwaukee Unit.
While spending their winters in Texas she enjoyed volunteering to help school children with learning English as a second language.
Betty enjoyed her weekly Bible study, playing cards, board games and she was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Willard; sons, Dan (Janice), Jim (Sherry), Larry (Maggie), Bill; and daughter Sue; grandchildren, Kendra (Rob) Di Piazza, Brock (Diane), Bryan, Joel (Haley), Neil, Jessica, Rick, Ben and Sam; great-grandchildren, Alec, Gavin and Cameron White, Isabella and Joey Di Piazza.
Visitation will be held on August 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. A private interment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Rosa, Stephany, the staff at Ridgewood Care Center and the staff at St. Mary's Medical Center for all the care and compassion they showed Betty.
