Joseph E. Denning, age 92, passed away on Wednesday June 19, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Joseph was born Viroqua, WI, on May 30, 1921, son of the late John and Mabel (nee: Clifford) Denning.
During World War II, Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army. In his early years, he was employed with the U. S. Government in Rochester, MN.
Joe moved to Racine in 1959, where he met the love of his life, Mary Pulice. They were married at St. Mary’s Church on November 12, 1960, and since have shared fifty-three beautiful years together. Joe was employed with Western Publishing for twenty-five years and later owned and operated Professional Coach Service for thirteen years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Post #92 in Rochester, MN, Disabled American Veterans, the Racine Moose Lodge #437, and Roma Lodge. Joe will be fondly remembered for his quiet and gentle nature, and for his great love and devotion to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Jackie (Jeff) Stern; sister, Bonnie Molnar; sister-in-law, Rosemary Gagliano; brother-in-law, Reverend John J. Pulice; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Cox and Rosemary (Randall) Kraetsch; and his infant granddaughter, Molly Ruth Stern.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Thursday, June 27,2013, at 11 a.m., Reverend John J. Pulice officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. (Roma Lodge service at 10:15 a.m.) In lieu of flowers, memorials to Boys and Girls Town, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to the Racine Chapter of the Humane Society have been suggested.
