Shirle Jean Potman, age 84, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Racine on April 28, 1929, daughter of the late Elmer and Ruth (Nee: Piehler) Gradoske.
On October 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to Anthony E. Potman, who preceded her in death on March 8, 1991. Shirle was crowned Miss Racine in the late 1950s. She was employed for many years at 1st National Bank and retired from Marine Bank. She was a longtime avid member of the Racine Literacy Council, serving on the board as President, tutor and tutor trainer. Shirle was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church, which is now known as Living Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her cousins and many dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June, 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Cashius Myers officiating. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Living Hope Lutheran Church or to the Racine Literacy Council have been suggested.
