Alexander Wagner, 90, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
Alexander Wagner was born in Racine to the late Martin and Mary (nee: Ruppel) Wagner on November 15, 1919. He lived in Racine all his life. He was united in marriage to Lorraine E. Volz on September 28, 1946.
Mr. Wagner was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Air Force in England during World War II. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge where he and his wife would square dance. Mr. Wagner was employed by Western Publishing Company and retired in the mid-1980s. He enjoyed bowling and traveling, but most importantly he was a family man who loved his family.
Alex will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine; one brother, Adolph (Jeanne) Wagner; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Arnold (Doris) Volz, Robert (Darlene) Volz, Virginia Bittorf, Herman Kugel and Francis Volz; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, George Wagner; one sister, Mary Kammerzelt; two sisters-in-law, Frieda Kugel and Ruth Holtz; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Volz and William Bittorf.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randall Poppe and Rev. Thomas Chryst officiating. Entombment will follow at the West Lawn Memorial Park Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or the Racine Lutheran High School.
