Steve Holly, 95, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on June 21, 1914, the son of Stephen and Zuzanna (nee: Trokan) Holly.
Steve was a 1932 graduate of Washington Park High School. On June 6, 1959, Steve was united in marriage to Laverne Madsen. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring on July 30, 1976, after 40 years of service. Steve was a member of Pentecost Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Steve loved playing golf and was a master woodworker.
Surviving are three sons, Steven (Pat) Holly of Racine, James (Pat) Holly of Springville, CA, and stepson, Robert (Robin) Burns of Carbondale, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Steven, Trevor, Allison and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth, Reagan, Evan, Claire, Holly, Madelyn and Russell; nephews, Steve, Tim, Claudette; niece, Patricia and favorite cousin, Christy Fugina. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne, on June 18, 1999; three sisters, Kristina, Suzanna and Anna; and one brother, Martin.
Funeral services will be held at Pentecost Lutheran Church, 2213 Coolidge Ave., on Monday, April 26, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Luke Jacob and Rev. Milan Babel officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and at the church on Monday before services from 10 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pentecost Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 902, Pewaukee, WI 53072; have been suggested.
