Gertrude 'Pinky' (Braun) Greene

Gertrude “Pinky” R. Greene, age 89, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Gertrude was born in Racine, September 24, 1921, daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Nee: Mueller) Braun.

On January 18, 1947, at St. Joseph Friary in Sturtevant she was united in marriage to Emmette M. Greene, who preceded her in death on August 25, 2001. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Pinky thoroughly enjoyed tending to her farm and gardens. She also worked for Borzinski’s for a number of years. More than anything she loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Barbara A. (John) Pippenger of Racine, Thomas (Karen) Greene of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Lara Leaf (Stephen Stolarick), Rebecca Pippenger (Paul Van Opens), Daniel (Patricia) Pippenger, Heather Wylie, Kim (Raphel) Mitchell, Brian Greene; great-grandchildren, Krista Wylie, Katherine Pippenger, Elizabeth Pippenger, Stuart Stolarick; sister, Grace Perman; brother, John (Miriam) Braun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Angeline (Onnie) Gifford.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100-95th St., Sturtevant, with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church have been suggested.
