Werna Marie Johnson

Mrs. Werna M. Johnson, 91, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Wednesday, December 8, 2010.

Werna Marie was born in Fall Creek to the late August and Anna (nee: Schultz) Gust on October 29, 1919. She had lived in Sturtevant for over 50 years. Her former husband, Arnold H. Behlke, preceded her in death. On August 1, 1959, in Fall Creek, she was united in marriage to Casper A. Johnson. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1989.

Mrs. Johnson was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Werna will be dearly missed by her children, Patricia (Dennis) Nondorf, Arvid (Sandra) Behlke, Darwin (Joyce) Behlke, and Daryl Johnson; eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; two sisters, Olga Zich and Elmira Tubbs; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gust and Susie Gust. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Behlke in 1944; three brothers and three sisters, Adelia Rau, Grace Kinderman, Rudoph Gust, Myrtle Haase, Irvin Gust and Eldor Gust.

A funeral ceremony will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave. in Sturtevant on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeffery Mortenson officiating. Private entombment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9 a.m. until the time of the ceremony.

Thank you to the staff and residents of Ridgewood Care Center for their warmth and caring of our mother during her time with them. They made her feel like family. Also a warm thank you to Gloria and Jewel on 1E and Stephaney on 2E for their care for her.
