Jerome M. Tennessen, age 82, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at his residence. Jerome was born in Racine on November 10, 1928, son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Nee: Goebel) Tennessen.
Jerome attended Holy Name Grade School and St. Catherine’s High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. On January 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to Jalaine I. Jacky, who preceded him in death, December 4, 2006. Jerome was employed by Iron Workers Union Local 8, retiring after forty years, and then worked at the U.S. Post Office for five years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Masonic Lodge, and enjoyed socializing with the St. Paul Senior Group and Douglas Park Seniors. During his retirement he enjoyed gifting his creation of beautiful stained glass windows. More than anything, he cherished time spent visiting family. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his four children, Mary Gessele of Fargo, ND, Theodore (Mary) Tennessen of Las Vegas, NV, Jeryl (Dan) Mott of Racine, Caryn (Brian) Uebelacker of Germantown, WI; his five grandchildren, Dustin Uebelacker, Magen (Cory) Johnston, Kayla Tennessen, Andrew and Adam Mott; sisters, Marian Tykal, Theresa Ketchum, Rita Cziraki, Betty Wolff, Trude Haas; sister-in-law, Leona Tennessen; special friend, Peggy Sievers; nieces nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Vern Gessele; and two brothers, George “Louis” Tennessen and James Tennessen.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Diane Tetrault officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to St. Paul’s Neighborhood Center have been suggested.
