Johanna “Jody” A. Knudtson, age 71, passed away after a two-month bout with cancer, Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Manor Care, Kenosha. Jody was born in Watertown, WI, August 25, 1939, daughter of the late Everett and Alice (Nee: Neioff) Guist.
On September 3, 1959, in Dubuque, IA, she was united in marriage to Raymond W. Knudtson, who preceded her in death, April 10, 1992. Jody was employed by EDS for eighteen years, retiring in 1991. She was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church and Friends of Seniors. A skilled quilter, Jody enjoyed quilting with the Lighthouse Quilters and with Atonement Lutheran Church ladies making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She volunteered throughout the community with Meals on Wheels, Unified School District, and homeless shelters. Jody had a great love for the arts and the Racine Theater Guild. She loved traveling the world, her cats, bird watching and gardens. It was the time spent with her family that gave her the most joy. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Dianne (Jeff) Hayes, Debra (Greg) Powell, all of Racine, Randy (Karri) Knudtson of Oshkosh, WI; her grandchildren, Sean, Katy and Rachel Hayes, Kelly (Jon) Blickle, Trevor Powell, Wesley, Simon and Chloe Knudtson; sister, Sandy Larsen of Racine; sisters-in-law, LaDonna Mahder, Margie (Tom) Knickerbocker, all of Eau Claire, WI; brother-in-law, Harvey Julson; her beloved cat, Nutmeg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Edna Knudtson; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard “Dick” Larsen, Bob Mahder, Harold “Tubby” Knudtson, Janice Knudtson, Shirley Julson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Ave., with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
