Surrounded by her family, Carol Lois Larsen, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine on October 21, 1924, daughter of the late Louis and Gladys (nee: Hammerstrand) Larsen.
Carol graduated from Washington Park High School and on March 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to Richard F. Larsen. Richard preceded her in death in 1980. Carol was employed by Racine County Human Services for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Faith Community Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, her cats, watching TV, camping, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her son, Mel (Darlene) Larsen; grandchildren, Chris (Kerry) Cook, Jennifer L’Hote, Erin (Rob) Allen, Kevin Larsen; great-grandchildren, Ian and Spencer Cook, Robyn and Sara Allen; step-grandson, Troy (Ann) Holden; step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Austyn Holden; special niece and nephew, Jackie and James Wendt; special friends, Mike and Sharon Rolschau and children, Mindy and Jean; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Beatty; and siblings, Melvin Larsen KIA in WWII, Elaine (Joseph) Wendt, and her twin brother Kenneth (Esther) Larsen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Faith Community Church, 215 S. Newman Rd., with Reverend Dino Galati officiating. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 5 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Memorials to the family or Faith Community Church have been suggested.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center for their loving and compassionate care given to Carol these past few years.
