Helen 'Lena' E. (Ottmann) Machalik

Helen “Lena” E. Machalik, age 92, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Becker-Shoop Center.  Helen was born in Franklin, WI, on February 12, 1920, daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Nee:  Meyer) Ottmann.

On June 14, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Joseph J. Machalik, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2001.  She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and St. Vincent De Paul Society.  Helen treasured time spent with her family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her five children, Joseph (Gail) Machalik of Racine, James (Michelle) Machalik of Waterford, Mary Ann (Gilbert) Zewen of Racine, Elizabeth Werner of Racine, Sister Mary Michaela of Roswell, New Mexico; her eight grandchildren, James Zewen, Jeffrey Zewen, Samantha Machalik, Charlotte Machalik, Adrian Machalik, Daniel Machalik, Tyler Machalik, Kelsey Machalik; her 1 great-grandson, Jeffrey Joseph Zewen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Werner; brother, Joseph Ottmann; sisters, Mary Ottmann, Ann (George) Barbian; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael (Veronica) Gajdos; and nephew, George Barbian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.  Memorials to St. Edward Catholic Church or to the Becker-Shoop Center have been suggested.
