Delores Mae Janosik, age 84, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine on August 10, 1928, daughter of the late Walter and Mae (Nee: Spring) Kuehnemann and was a lifelong resident of Racine.
Delores was employed by Racine Unified School District for 29 years, retiring in 1990 from Jerstad–Agerholm Middle School. She continued to teach part time for ten more years. She touched the lives of countless students. At Jerstad she taught math and science and was proud to be the head of the Science Dept for many years. She coached the Science Olympiad, worked at organizing the Science fair and was delighted by her students' accomplishments.
At home she enjoyed reading, knitting afghans for the kids, traveling and her summers spent poolside at Meadowbrook. . She and George would be seen at countless events that supported the community. She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and had held various leadership positions throughout the years. After her retirement, Delores also had done volunteer work at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. At the drop of a hat she would change her agenda to meet the needs of her children and then her grandchildren. They were her top priority. She was instrumental in the nurturing and development of her grandchildren as young people and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Jeffrey (Lyn) Janosik of Racine, Dr. Denise Janosik of St. Louis, MO, Terry (Scott) Ritenour of Wauwatosa; grandchildren, Jeffrey Janosik Jr., Jennifer Janosik, Tiana Schmitt, Marina Schmitt, Erin Ritenour, Autumn Ritenour; sister-in-law, Bonnie Janosik of SC; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Schmitt; and son-in-law, John Schmitt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave. Entombment will follow at Calvary Garden Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Friday at the church, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Memorials to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 have been suggested.
