Susan M. (Caynak) Halkowitz

Susan Mary Halkowitz, age 90, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine, March 7, 1921, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Nee: Dugan) Caynak.

On December 3, 1938, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Lester J. Halkowitz, who preceded her in death October 11, 1999. Susan was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne (Diane) Halkowitz, James (Terry) Halkowitz, all of Racine, L.J. Halkowitz of Little Rock, AR; two grandchildren, Amy Higgins and Matthew Halkowitz; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Alex Higgins, Maliah Halkowitz; a sister, Florence (Frank) Bogyos; a brother, John (Mejol) Caynak; her special friend and companion, Bill Green; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Mamie (Steven) Schmaling, Anna (Louie) Hudec, Margaret (Albin) Secanky, George (Mary) Caynak.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, January 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Allen Bratkowski officiating. Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family following the service.
