Ada Immacolata Cifuno, age 80, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Ada was born in Cancello Arnone, Italy, on October 15, 1931, daughter of Raffaele and Vincenza (Nee: DiCaprio) Cristiano.
On February 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to Vincenzo Cifuno and they immigrated to Calumet City, IL, in 1972. Following Vincenzo’s passing in 1996, Ada moved to Racine to be with her son, Ralph. Ada was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an excellent cook. She will be remembered for her fresh pasta and gnocchi. Ada was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Carmela Cifuno; granddaughters, Ada and Amanda; sisters, Luigina (Agostino) Baratella and Enza (Antonio) Gravante; brothers-in-law, Ugo Piccolo and Pasquale (Virginia) Cifuno; nieces, Rina (Gino) Ciaccio, Maria (Antonio) Picazio; nephew, Dominic (Teresa) Femminella; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brothers, Vincenzo and Carlo Cristiano; sister, Antonietta (Agostino) Femminella; and sister-in-law, Sofia Piccolo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Jack Flynn officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Wednesday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
