Anna M. Schifano (nee: Dacquisto), 100, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Lakeshore Manor. She was born in Porticello, Sicily, on March 19, 1912, daughter of the late Sam and Josephine Dacquisto.
Anna was united in marriage to Louis T. Schifano, who preceded her in death in September of 1979. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Anna had a great love for cooking and gardening and a joy of traveling. But above all she cherished time spent with her family.
Anna is survived by, her daughter and son-in-law, Angelica “Angie” (George) Longo; two grandsons; Drs. Lance (Cathy) Longo and Dr. Steven (Susan) Longo; 4 great-grandchildren, Rachel and Dominic Longo and Nicholas and Gabrella Longo; two sisters, Frances Cacchione and Sarah Arndt; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Frank; and two brothers, Frank (Doris) and Dominick (Hilda); and two sisters, Helen Dacquisto and Grace (Robert) Petersen; and brothers-in-law, August Cacchione, Ronald Arndt; and a nephew, Thomas Arndt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family at the church for visitation on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Assn. or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital have been suggested.
