Mabel E. (Bark) Kirt

Mabel E. Kirt, age 102, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the Becker Shoop Center.  Mabel was born in Racine on July 1, 1910, daughter of the late Herman and Lillian (Nee:  Gloede) Bark and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

Mabel was a graduate of St. Catherine’s Academy.  On February 12, 1930, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Kirt, who preceded her in death on October 27, 1964.  In her younger years, Mabel was employed at a beauty salon, Feige’s Clothing and Key’s Shoe Outlet.  She was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.  Mabel cherished time with family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Nancy (Glenn) Pfeffer, Dennis (Diane) Kirt, all of Racine, Laurine (Paul) Gedemer of Noblesville, IN; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded In death by her son, Donald Kirt; infant sister, Frances; and brothers, Elmer and Gilbert Bark.

Private funeral services were held with interment at Calvary Cemetery.
