June L. McGill, 60, passed away at Ridgewood Healthcare Center on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, after a long illness.
June was born in Holly Springs, MS, to Lucian and Mavis (nee: Lewis) McGill on October 8, 1951. She lived in Racine for most of her life.
June graduated from Washington Park High School and attended both Southern Methodist University and Kaplan College. June worked in Healthcare for many years as a Health Unit Clerk at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Trinity Memorial Hospital and Roger’s Memorial Hospital. She retired as the Program Director at the Racine Friendship Clubhouse.
June was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her passion was music. She was a gifted musician. She sang and played the piano. She was also part of the band, “Swing Shift.” June loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Most importantly she had a great love for her niece and nephew and their children. June also cherished her cats.
June will be dearly missed by her mother, Mavis McGill; sister-in-law, Sandra McGill; nephew, Kelly (Stacey) McGill; niece, Bonnie (Steve) Hoagland; great-nieces and nephews, Alex and Beatrix McGill and Gladys, Dorothy and Lucian Hoagland; aunt, Mabel Robuck; her best friend for 42 years, Luann Simpson; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lucian Russell McGill; brother, Russell Gene McGill; and her singing partner and friend, Melissa Huck.
A memorial celebration of June's life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Tuesday evening, August 21, 2012, at 6 p.m. Committal service will follow the ceremony at the Family Scattering Tree on the church grounds. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. service time.
Memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church are suggested.
