Richard Karcher

Richard Karcher, age 73, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI.  Richard was born in Racine on October 7, 1938, son of the late Arnold and Lillian (Nee:  Kueker) Karcher.

He was a graduate of Washington Park High School and proudly served in the United States Navy and Army Reserves.  Richard was employed as a firefighter for eighteen years with Case Fire Department and with Pick ’n Save in the meat department for ten years.  Richard was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed coaching with Racine County Youth Sports and was actively involved with the Kilties Drum and Bugle Corp.

Survivors include his brother-in-law, Gordon Johnson; his nephews and niece, Daniel (Kristine) Johnson, Rebecca (Robert) Remster, Jonathan (Wendy) Johnson; great-nieces and nephews, Amelia, Rachel, Joshua, Ryan and Adam; other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Johnson.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mary Janz officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m.  Private interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery.  Memorials to Wounded Warriors have been suggested by the family.
