Paul Schmidt Jr., age 91, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Paul was born in Bayview, WI, son of the late Paul and Mary (Nee: Herman) Schmidt Sr.
He grew up in South Milwaukee and served in the United States Navy stationed in Guam in World War II. On June 10, 1981, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Cecelia R. Kozenski, who preceded him in death on August 28, 2009. Paul was employed by General Electric Company as an electrician for thirty-five years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and fifty-year member of Local 663 IBEW. Paul enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include his brother, Walter (Joann) Schmidt of Las Vegas, NV; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony (Mary) Kozenski, Joseph Kozenski, Sylvester (Mary) Kowalski, Marie Skowronski, Lillian Neumann; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; brothers, Joseph and John Schmidt; sister, Irene Kowalski; brothers-in-law, Ben Skowronski, Wencel Kozenski, Clarence Neumann; and sister-in-law, Jolene Schmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zerkel officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ridgewood Care Center for the wonderful care they gave Paul the past three and one half years.
