Bartholomew Bennett, age 73, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. Bartholomew was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, on August 4, 1939, son of the late Ezra and Ozella (Nee: Johnson) Bennett.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Bennett; his children, Bart Bennett Jr., Stevie (Lisa) Bennett, Royreka Bennett; stepdaughter, Marilyn (Melvin) White; his grandchildren, Allen Smith, Tameisha and Lelia Gage, LaZahnae’ Neyhana and Deontre Bennett, Kenji, Leticia and Keticia Kyle; brother and sisters, David (Diane) Bennett, Octavia Bennett, Elizabeth (Khadijah) Karim, Mary (Nadirah) Karim, Thomas Tartt; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Bennett; brothers, Moses (Catherine) Bennett, Oscar (Dorothy Smith) Bennett, Tommie Bennett, and Thelma Bennett.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon.
